Work proceeds apace, namely slowly.

I have, however, learned how to plate and grow wee little e.coli beasties. Which has involved learning how to make various potions^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hsolutions, learning to pour plates, using my GC oven as a ghetto incubator, and sitting there with a lab marker counting the little things. I also got/had to purchase a bunsen burner which has led to perhaps more fun with fire than you're supposed to be indulging in as a sober grad student.

Or maybe it's just a sad sad state of affairs that I had to turn to a bunsen burner to have fun.

So, brain and cog sci undergrad, turn to a chem minor with work in an organometallic chemistry lab, go to caltech for what turns into sort of like analytical chemistry/cheapass chemical engineering, and somehow get into medical diagnostic stuff which leads to me growing bacteria? how does this work?
