Murray Gold being shippy shippy shippy

So I was just watching Voyage of the Damned and listening to the audio commentary bc I'm a huge geek like that ... and Murray Gold happened to be one of the commentators, and he said this:

"I'd written this song which comes in just for a little bit, called 'The Stowaway', which was on the album ... so you get a little bit of it, and some of the ( Read more... )

I find that like that episode, it's pretty, but it lacks real depth for me. Don't know a lot about music, so I'm sure it's very technically brilliant etc, but Doomsday for example, just the start of that and... Well, there's me just lost.

I'll admit ... I used to teach guitar, but I don't know jack about music theory XD I was just a self-taught guitarist and I'm good with kids soooooo ... teaching!!! Haha. I like what you said about it lacking depth tho - I suppose it is kind of light and airy and just sorta there.

Lol don't laugh ... I honestly never even noticed that Doomsday had its own theme until it was pointed out to me - it must have not made very much of an impression on me at all lmao XD I wish I liked it more, I really do. Not that I DISlike it ... but you know how it goes!! (I also never noticed that Amy had a theme. Nor River. I only found out about them bc Youtube recommended them to me haha).

Re Martha's theme though, it just feels so DEEP and RICH and EXOTIC. It feels like one of those beautifully rich perfumes. I adore it!

Can I admit something tho? I hate Donna's theme XD

I find it funny, not that you didn't notice as such, more about what music people do and don't notice. I noticed Doomsday straight away, I admit that I didn't notice Rose's theme til the second time I watched... It has nothing to do with liking it or not, just didn't really notice it.

As for S5-6, well, I admit it took me a while to realise the music was still good cause I was too busy being miserable over how much things had changed :P

Re Martha's theme though, it just feels so DEEP and RICH and EXOTIC.

YES, EXACTLY! That's possibly the best description of it ever!

And erm, Donna's theme... It obviously made a huge impression on me cause I can't remember it. At all. Not a good sign.

Lol ... I didn't realize Rose's theme was HER theme until she was written off the show and they didn't play it anymore XD XD

Yeah, I think he kind of phoned this one in:

I didn't find out Rose's theme til I'd watched some of the Confidentials or something... I can't remember what exactly, but they pointed it out and I had that 'ohhhhhh' moment.

Yeah, I think he kind of phoned this one in:

Ohhhhm, that's right. Now I remember it. Yeah, not exactly his best effort. Good, but really kind of dull.

Dull and ... quirky? It's not really pretty imo. Donna was quirky but there was an underlying depth to her that's not reflected in this. Sounds more like a video game theme to me lol!

Or maybe like a sitcom theme even? You're right though, Donna has depth, her theme not so much.
