Xaos and things related to it.

So in my quest for things to get me interested I went back to Xaos at the request of some people and found that the place has become, for lack of a better way of saying it, nonexistant.

To quickly educate, Xaos is a MUD that I played on for two years or so and was the only source of my emotional outlet during what could be considered the toughest parts of my life. I made a good number of friends, many great people, and a large variety of enemies no less. Either way, I'm fairly well known there for various reasons not many of them good =P. Xaos was also a huge creative outlet for me and helped fuel my creativity surprisingly well.

Anyways, the path everyone expected Xaos to take was the one it took. A place once filled with stories and adventure became a land of rare PVP, desolation, and favoritism. Eventually, this caused the MUD to pretty much blink out of existence or hibernate and stay dormant.

Upon logging back on, I was informed of a new imm who's job was simply to bring balance back to the mortals and life to the MUD. Formerly, this job had been done by Albach (where are you damnit?!) who had been cockblocked repeatedly by other imms who wanted their reign of complete favoritism to continue unabated. Very few immortals ever cared about the story, and the new one plus Albach were some of the few. I've great hope for the revitalizing of Xaos, but I have a few doubts in terms of what may happen. The game STILL has a substantial amount of scars and craters left from the favoritist empire of the founder, but time heals all wounds.

Xaos was truthfully never in the hands of the mortal, which is very much something that should be avoided on a MUD (or any MMO, truth be told). It was always in the hands of people who cared only about power and mechanics. The stories and legends that were interwoven within the day to day boredom that was Xaos were nothing more then footnotes that have been forgotten by many. Their impact may never be remembered or cared about, even if the MUD manages to do a 180 and revive the art of the story.

Only time will tell.
