"we oppose what the enemy likes and we like what the enemy opposses"....welcome to beijing. After being in hangzhou for about six days and creating for myself a home we continued our endeavor to beijing. The city that i read about the most and the city that is covered in mao. The forbidden city was great and all. For those who slept during sixth grade and didnt learn any of your chinese history the forbidden city is where the emperors resided and were the normal average joe could not enter. But now flash forward to the year 2006 and you have people from all over the world entering this beautiful place. After your done going through the city, which is the size of mine you could get an iced coffee from starbucks. Yes ladies and gents there is a starbucks that gracefully sits on the corner at the beginning of the city. Ive completely lost my sanity....sanity! Then we went to see mao himself. this deceased man thats been drained of every organ and bloodcell and stuffed like a deer from montana. He is so short and small and ugly. He lay on a glossed dark wooded table with a glass covering....kind of like snow white. very fun. After we saw mao the murderer we went to the temple of heaven which is heaven. They had rows and rows of trees. These trees had the blackest tree trunks and the greenest leaves. All the tree branches of the trees spread out and while the sun was slowly going down the rays of the sun tried to enter through these tightly griped branches, causing different parts of my face to shine with the glow of the joyful sun. Then we hopped on a train for eight hours to taihan. For those who are into philosophy, confucious was born not to far from where we were at. Confucious was like what aristotle and plato are to the u.s. After we arrived in taian we got a hotel. This hotel is probably the most disgusting piece of **** that ive seen in my life....but its my kind of place. Three beds that were as hard as the devils heart and two old vintage chairs with floral fabric and this 1960's television that had static on every channel. The walls had black spots almost everywhere and in the heater there lay a baby bat trying to escape this cage of confusion and rusted metal. It was a fun night. are reason for going to taian was to climb the most climbed mountain in the world, Tiashan mountain. we climbed it early in the morning and it was beautiful. I really connected with my earthyness in a real way, I guess. It was so beautiful to be standing 1,400 meters high in the sky surrounded by different shades of mountain.....starting at a green one and slowly decreasing in color because of the fog. We took a cable car down to the middle of the mountain after arriving to the top. After getting half way down due to the cable car i realized that all the trees had license plate numbers. really, License plate numbers, these little squares with numbers and letters with two wires on each side hugging the trunk of the ancient tree...please say bizarre. we made it down,,,alive and now we continue south. Arriving in shangai will be fun and depressing at the same time. Because now its going to be all about a city vibe and no more temples or statues of buddha or taoism temples. Its now the beginning of the end amd this trip is almsot over but the adventure of finding myself has really just begun.
