“To satisfy ourselves, to teach our lovers to satisfy us, to be present in our vaginas, to speak of them out loud, to speak of their hunger and pain and loneliness and humor, to make them visible so they cannot be ravaged in the dark without great consequence, so that our center, our point, our motor, our dream, is no longer detached, mutilated, numb, broken, invisible or ashamed.”
- “The Woman Who Loved to Make Vaginas Happy” from The Vagina Monologue
V-Day McGill is looking for a director for our February 2007 production of "The Vagina Monologues." Gender is unimportant. All that we ask is that you have a fresh take on the work and that you're willing dedicate yourself to the project. The show runs for three nights (usually the weekend before Valentines day) and is lead up to by several weeks of workshops, activities, screenings, performances and parties known as V-Weeks.
We aim to raise money to stop gender based violence (rape, battery/assault, stalking, harassment, incest, rape as a war crime, honour killings, acid attacks, dowery deaths, bride burnings, female genital mutilation (FGM), female infanticide and sexual slavery) while informing and empowering.
This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference and raise money for a really great cause while stretching your directing muscles and putting on an award-winning play. If you are interested in applying, you may fill out an application in room 435 of the SSMU (Shatner) Building at 3480 Rue McTavish. Please contact me at sponsorship.vdaymcgill@gmail.com or visit
