Something is not being learned.

The bird flu has now spread to Turkey with 14 confirmed cases.
Although there is no evidence it has started to jump from human to human yet, there is much fear that it could and start a world wide epidemic. Although I think the media overhypes the threat a bit...

One thing I do not understand, chicken and other poultry farms through asia and now turkey are being culled.. millions of birds being slaughtered because people are afraid of the virus spreading. This is dumb, because as soon as they kill all the birds, they will just re-stock and grow a bunch more and the process will start again.

first of all.. they need to stop farming birds the way they are.

It is easy to see how a disease can breed, mutate, and spread in these conditions.
Of course the people who work around these birds are going to be the first to get infected.

Clearly the best option would be for everyone to stop eating birds so that there would be hardly any risk for such an epidemic. But this is never going to happen, especially with what I heard on the radio today.
A woman called into a talk radio doctor worried that her children could catch the bird flu from playing with the dead ducks they shoot during duck hunting season.

The obvious solution would be to not shoot any ducks, or if you must shoot ducks.. don't let your kids play with the dead carcass!

People are so dumb.. maybe the bird flu killing a few million humans would do us some good.
