It seems that the selected denizens to receive this unholy blessing of death have resorted themselves in hording in a large selection of "false happiness". Needless to say, the supply and demand for this situation is positive in everything but for the customer's own untimely demise.
The debts continue to rise with no one left to pay off such amounts of what is owed. If nothing, I suppose a negotiation as to how long the time of suffering would be in order, if not to give time to collect what is due before the Grim Reaper chooses to take over. It is harder to negotiate with Death for the price of time.
