„It’s just not fair, you know,“ Rosalie says with an unhappy, even kinda angry look on her face. “She has a choice. Why would she sacrifice her life for … this?” she asks Esme who is sitting next to her.
“Oh, honey,” she answers soothingly and lays an arm around her daughter’s shoulder. “She wants to be together with Edward. And that is the price she has to pay,” the older vampire explains and pulls Rosalie in, caresses her head in a gentle manner.
Rosalie sighs and lets it happen. Esme always manages to calm her with soft, comforting touches.
“It’s just not right. I would leave Emmett right away if I could be human again.” Rosalie’s words are less than a whisper so just Esme can hear her.
“Mh. Would you even leave me?”
Rosalie stiffens, has not expected this question.
After a long moment, where Esme just kept on stroking her hair, the blonde simply shakes her head and cuddles up to Esme, who smiles softly to herself and embraces Rosalie even tighter.
