You are beautiful
Alexa watches Sarah getting her makeup done for their scene together. Her own makeup didn’t take half as long, so she just sits in a chair and enjoys watching the makeup artist apply one layer of white greasepaint after another.
Her favourite part is when she curls Sarah’s beautiful hair, working in the extensions; her least favourite part is when she puts in the contact lenses.
“It’s a shame,” Alexa sighs.
“What is?” Sarah inquires while she’s leaning back in her chair, her head laid back so the makeup artist can work better.
“That you have to wear these contacts. You have such beautiful eyes that it’s a shame no one can see them in the movie.”
The artist stops in her motion to look at Alexa and grin a little, while Sarah doesn’t say anything to this. She is just happy the makeup is thick enough to hide the blush that creeps into her cheeks.

Now and then I get insecure
“So … Daddy introduced you to Shilo today?” Amber asks, trying to sound nonchalantly, but Mag knows her long enough.
“Yes, he did,” she simply states.
“And does she look a lot like your old friend?”
Mag presses her lips together for a moment, before answering softly: “Yes, she does.”
Amber huffs displeased, ready to throw a fit, to yell, maybe even throw things … Mag has seen it all.
But instead the younger woman buries her head against her shoulder. “Will you leave me?” Her voice is muted.
That is unexpected, but Mag lays an arm around Amber. “Of course not.”
“It’s just … with you, it’s the first time in my life I feel … loved. And I’m not ready to give this up.”
Mag nods and pulls Amber in, still thinking it’s kinda funny that she’s the strong one in this relationship despite being smaller and more fragile than Amber.
“I know. But don’t worry: I will keep loving you,” she says and kisses Amber’s head, rocks them back and forth while holding the woman and humming a lullaby to her.

Trying hard to fill the emptiness, the piece is gone.
Mag is in her dressing room and looks into the mirror, takes in her appearance. Sometimes she really wishes it was possible to cry with these eyes; she tells herself that the pain would subside if she could only weep. Her face is distorted in agony she thought she had left behind a long time ago … but seeing Shilo ripped open the wound in her heart.
She looks so much like Marni that it hurts …
But what hurt even more was the way Shilo had looked at her: mistrustful, weary, cold … It was strange to see these well-known eyes look in a manner she had never seen.
Mag rests her head on her arms and sighs, trying to tell herself that her heart is only burning because she misses Marni, that it has nothing to do with Shilo herself, with never being able to see her again, with the knowledge Nathan would never allow -
‘No, stop. It can’t be helped,’ Mag tells herself and raises her head to look into the mirror again, into these eyes she has come to hate. ‘Think of it. This is all the more reason to do what you wanted to to anyway,’ she reassures and tries to fight the image of Shilo in her mind. Shilo, not Marni.
“Well, I didn’t know I’d love you so much,” she says softly, and isn’t sure to whom this is directed: Marni … or Shilo?

But tomorrow we might awake on the other side
Shilo didn’t know what to feel. She felt happy, sad, excited, afraid - everything at once. So much happened she still couldn’t fully understand.
There was only one thing she knew: That her life would change completely.
So she went home and ignored the sting in her heart that did not come from her false blood disease (with time the symptoms would fade, Shilo was sure), simply started packing. No way was she going to stay here. Now that she finally had the chance to see the world?
She entered her room and looked around, deciding what she would need and what not … when she saw the poster of Mag.
“Oh Mag …” Shilo thought and her lip started to tremble. She remembered the time the singer had been at her house, and all the things she had said Shilo couldn’t wrap her head around. But now it all made sense.
“We have both been kept in bondage.”
The words echoed through her, and Shilo approached the poster, eyed the beautiful face that smiled happily. But now, taking a closer look, there was an endless sadness, for Mag never had the chance to enjoy her freedom.
“Don’t worry, Mag,” Shilo whispers and starts to detach the poster from her wall carefully. “I’ll take you with me. We’ll travel together, we’ll see the world, and every day will be a surprise, a new adventure.”
The girl smiles, takes her bag and leaves the house, already wondering where she’ll wake up tomorrow.
