...the jackals of botswana...

so last monday i was taking an hour lunch and having a beer at islands with my boss when i got a call from Sign-A-Rama wanting to know if i was interested in coming in for an interview for a graphic design position. i wasn't that interested, but i figured i might as well go in, 'cause if it was like the sign place i toured when i was in school, i figured i could learn how to fabricate shit and that would be awesome. so i went in and it wasn't like that other sign place, it was pretty much just a vinyl sign place and other stuff. they send out most of the cool shit. so i showed the guy my stuff and he was impressed and we talked about shit and he wanted me to come in the next week to sit at the computer and he would pay me to show him what i could do. so today i went in and he had me make changes on a business card, then he showed me how to send designs to the plotter for cutting out on vinyl, then he wanted me to design a vehicle wrap for a customer. now this is where it gets interesting because cars are involved and i get to use photoshop, not the crazy ass sign program they have that sucks ass. i made this pretty kick ass vehicle wrap that was cheese as hell (bald eagle with american flag) but it looked really good and the bossman liked it a lot. then a customer came in and i had to deal with him and superimpose his logo onto his truck so they could see what the vinyl stickers on there would look like. i did good with that too. so at the end of all this the guy takes me into the office and offers me a full-time position as graphic designer making 12 bucks an hour. now, i told myself i would take it if he offered me 12, but nothing less. but i wasn't sure if i wanted to take it. i told him that the whole making signs and bullshit like that isn't really my thing, and he understood that i was more into the design of the cool shit instead of the gay shit. so what he did was he said i could just keep working at albertsons full-time and i could work there for like 8 or so hours a week doing whatever cool shit he could come up with. he even said i could work on some of the stuff at home since i have all the programs. that was real kick ass. i would be glad to work there for 8 hours a week for 12 bucks an hour and still work at albertsons full-time for 10.24. that way i could still get graphic design experience, but still work at kick ass albertsons with my best friend. so we'll see how this goes. shit today for doing practically nothing i got paid 60 bucks for 5 hours. that was nice as hell. paid for all the beer i'm gonna buy this weekend.
