My meeting last night was with Dave Cunning of Local Act Comics, who have published more comics in the last couple of years than any other local publisher since Cyclone in the 80s and 90s.
At this stage it looks like I'll be working specifically with Dave on an ongoing story, possibly also including Tristan Jones in the writing process with Dave pencilling and me inking. At this stage we're aiming for a graphic novel size book of 100 pages or so, and possibly more after that.
This also opens up some additional potential publishing opportunities through Local Act, for projects like my long-played-with idea of a Gallery book, collecting all the great pinups submitted over the years, and possibly other Killeroo one-shots, perhaps collecting Jacen Carpenter's Monstar webcomic story arc featuring Killeroo, or other short stories.
Dave sees a lot of potential in the character and its refreshing to see this kind of enthusiasm backed up by hard work and real publishing know-how. He also shares my views on production values and quality which is an essential.
Still early days in the planning stages at this point, but I'm hopeful this could be a real renaissance for the character and really get a wealth of development of the character and a serious number of pages behind him in the next few years.
Yay Killeroo! lol
