Stole this from Alawston
What did you do this year that you'd never done before?
This really was an amazing year for me, Ive done several things that I havent done before. A few off the top of my head; my first time out of europe x two, gone a year without eating meat (im a lacto-ovo pescitarian) and have loved it, drove a car, went parasailing, joined the Greenwich Village Hallween Parade in NY, got a permenant full time job, and began to learn chinese. I also have started planning for my, or our future; I should be moving into my new place with J in the next two months, and were planning to live together and eventually buy a little place around London somewhere. Im slightly nervous but I know that Im in it for the long run with J. My best friend N was mentioning to me the other day how much I had changed, how deeply happy and contented I am. I guess this year also I have maintained a monogomous relationship which is something I never was able to do either.
Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My resolutions for this year were; Visit two new foreign countries (check and check, Pass driving test (check), do some more study (kind of check, I didnt feel I did as much as I should have done but my driving test kinda streched out over quite a few months as I work 40hr weeks, bleugh, this I will address this year) and Max out my ISA savings (failed, Currently my savings are at about 2k but I spent 3k on holidays this year, so instead of saving like a bitch I had a good time, I cant really critize myself for this since I have had a truely amazing year for travel and since this is my first year with a proper job...I forgive myself for having a good time, this year Im gonna reign it in a bit, I dont even have a holiday planned!)
This years resolutions I havent decided yet but I will do in time, I find it really helpful to work to some aims.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Heck no, though my BBF keeps taking about it. Shes a lesbian and has planned the procedure out already.
Did anyone close to you die?
Kind of, my representitive at the temp company I worked for died very suddenly when she was 8 months pregnant. Baby was safe though. It was very sad and a shock to me and my collegues.
What countries did you visit?
Thailand, Ibiza, America (New York) and good old Wales.
What would you like to have next year that you lacked this year?
I cant think of anything. Maybe a kitten and some Le Crueset Cookware.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Hmmm, Passing my driving test probably but everyone and their mums has done that. Travelling to Thailand on my own was a shaping experience, I guess alot of people probably wouldnt do that kinda thing.
What was your biggest failure?
I dont really believe in failure, everything this year has shaped me positively to some extent.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had a really bad flu when I came back from Ibiza. One of the amazing things about Vegitarianism is that I dont seem to get sick at all anymore. Oh and I have to have an Op in January on my eye which has been going on half of the year.
What was the best thing you bought?
My holidays and my Xbox probably.
Whose behaviour merited celebration?
J always makes me jealous, he is so sensitive, insightful and gently spoken, everything I am not! I wish I could be more like him. Other than that this question is weird.
Where did most of your money go?
Holidays, driving lessons, savings.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to new york and the parade, we planned our outfits for a couple months and they turned out so well, everyone was waving and shouting at us, it was an amazing birthday. Im always excited about seeing J still too, were retardedly in love.
What song will always remind you of the year?
Anything by Lady Gaga, I love her face, Im going to see her in Feb, Chase and Status too will always remind me of an amazing night in Ibiza.
Compared to this time last year, are you
happier or sadder? Happier.
thinner or fatter? Thinner.
richer or poorer? Richer, I had just paid off all my student overdrafts this time last year.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Hmm, seen some of my friends, Ive been so busy and my work is so all over the place and Ive been literally sellotaped to J that they have fallen by the wayside a bit. Hopefully my new car and having a spare room available in our new flat will rectify that.
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Nightshifts.
What was your favourite TV program?
I dont really watch tv anymore, I like family guy and American Dad, I also downloaded the series of The Restaurant.
Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nah, everyones coo'.
What was the best book you read?
Ive read some Naomi Klein which was very insightful and I also started to adore Elizabeth Gaskell even more. I read Cranford while I was in Ibiza which was delightfully juxtaposing coming down after clubbing till dawn, I got her biography for xmas which I cant wait to read.
I havent read as much as I usually do this year and I would really like to address that. (Again, too busy)
What was your greatest musical discovery?
Ive listen to alot of great dance stuff and also had a baptism of fire into trance when i went to Global Gathering Festival this year. I love that we spend time listening to music together.
What was your favourite film of this year?
I might agree with Andy and say District 9 and maybe Watchmen.
What did you do on your birthday?
My birthday was drawn out over half of November as usual because Im spoilt :). I went to New York at the beginning, on my actual Birthday I was working a night shift which was lame on toast, and at my birthday weekend I had a quiet dinner with a couple people, I was exhausted. I got tix for Lady Gaga, $500 for my holiday and some bits.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept this year?
B-Girl Classique.
What kept you sane?
J, keeping a spending diary, holidays, night shifts to some extent where I spend my time catching up on personal paperwork and planning.
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I literally, and please dont read this if you are of a nervous disposition, only have eyes for one person at the moment. Everyone else is just people.
Who did you miss?
People from Uni I havent been able to see as much as I would like, again, I intend to rectify this. However I have been lucky enough to go and see alot of their artistic endevours, I have such talented friends.
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year.
Love isnt a weakness and If you dont take chances then you are not living.
Peace out to all of you, I hope you all had a great holiday, whatever it your celebrating. I hope that 2010 is a positive year, remember PMA!
