driving a camp van

Jun 08, 2007 21:54

So my boss called me last week and told me there was a bus route I could drive if I wanted. I can't techinically drive a camp bus this summer, because you have to be 21 to get your CDL, but this route only has a few kids so they use a van. I really wanted to drive this summer because, without my before and after camp job, it's an extra $700. So even though the route starts in Glenview, I told them I wanted to do it.

Every since then, everyone I know, including my boss, has been trying to talk me out of it. Yes, it is really far, and it will take a lot of time, but I really don't mind driving that much. Plus, I can use the van to drive to and from camp myself, which will save me gas money. It's only about an hour per day over what I was doing last summer, and a lot of that time will be spent driving by myself.

I ran the route this morning - it looks like I'll have to leave my house at about 7:00 to get the kids to camp at 9:00. Early, yes, but I am determined to do it and enjoy it.
