What if Susan Boyle couldn't sing?

I'm too afraid of what sort of humiliation she would have to put up with if she wasn't that good a singer. Why everyone started sniggering before she said a word amused me. So, unkempt middle-aged women can't have any sort of talent to speak of? I think part of the reason why this is such a phenomenal story, is because in this case, the underdog won. She proved every cynic wrong, and I loved it. Read this article if you have the time, it pretty much sums up what I have to say.
