My mom and I went to this store today in Escondido called
Canterbury Gardens. It is, by far, the most ridiculously, elaborately decorated store I have ever been in. Ever. As I described it to my brother, "It's like the Christmas hurricane came through and threw up all over the store." You walk in and think, oh, everything is so beautiful and Christmasy, but once you breach the next 10 paces you think, oh, this might be too Christmasy, and the 10 paces after that you realize how creepy and the elves and santas are, and the 10 after that you're just drowning in trees and wreaths and ornaments. Case in point:
It's basically 3000 sq ft of THAT. Plus every little nook and corner has a different theme of decorations with super kitschy names. I went a little picture happy >.> Sorry they're not so good, I only have my phone for pictures.
"Sugar and Spice" all candy and gingerbread themed.
"Bon Voyage" and "Working in the USA" lolol idek who has an American themed tree?!
"Fairy Tales" and "Tiny Bubbles." NO. SRSLY. Mermaid and seahorses and all ~under the sea~ decorations! XD And the fairies were godawful scary too D:
"Taj Mahal" and "Raining Cats and Dogs"
"Santa's Wild Zoo" and "Madame Butterfly." Just when I was making my second round around the store and thought I had seen it all, I turn and find Madame Butterfly complete with lanterns and takeout boxes haha XD There was this super cool giant train town too:
But omg I never realized how expensive that stuff is! Every little town building was like $85! Those were the most interesting ones I found. All the other stuff was basic things like "Happy Birthday Jesus" or "Ice Castle" or "Jolly St. Nick." This first picture is the section called "Elfin Forest." Be thankful that you can't actually see them in the picture because omg they were dnw creepy. I think I'm gonna have to go back and explore more in depth with some friends. The store is ridiculous but in the most awesome kind of way. I'll leave you with terrible gaudy white and hot pink tree:
