I feel especially lousy today and in place of going to my German class I think I'll take a shower and study for Wednesday's ~Deutsch~ quiz on my own. I think I'm also going to try and do a walk-in to the doctor because this is just getting annoying. I'm always hesitant to go see a doctor when I have a cold like this because unless they decide to ( Read more... )

That sounds like an amazing schedule. :O

Some college in Indiana e-mailed me. I'm guessing they saw my PSAT scores. xD

Are the PSATs scored the same way as the normal SAT? If so, what score did you get?

(I ask because I signed up for the PSAT and...uhh...forgot to go >.>)

it says 150 but they say add an extra zero for your ~sat score~ so it'd be like, 1500. D: I didn't skip any questions or else it would have been so much higher. I bombed the Math section but I'm in the top 5% for Writing.

Oh that's good! The SATs are out of a possible 2400 points now so your score is 1500, which is gooooood ^^

I guess it all depends on what college you want to go to. The average SAT score for incoming freshman at my school is 1100 and I got 1700 >.>

Keep in mind the college that you really want to go to and find out the average score of the students there and shoot for that. But don't feel bad if you get lower because it's just an average so some people got in with a higher score, and some with a lower.

When do you take the SAT anyways? I have another PSAT next year.

What year are you? I think you generally take it in your junior year. I took mine in the summer between my junior and senior year (the very last date available, I had just finished junior year the day before I took it). That way you have it before you start your senior year so you can send out college applications. Most schools accept applications in the winter before the school year (ex. I sent mine in February 07 for the Fall 07/Spring 08 year) but the application period varies depending on the school.

I'm currently a Sophomore.

All of this is really confusing ;_; Can't I be a stupid 16 year old kid forever???

Don't feel bad, my high school was so college -centric that from the very beginning this was beaten into our heads XD Srsly, everyone took the SAT and only one person in my class didn't graduate. XD

I put it more simplyyyy:
-If you want to improve your score, take the PSAT again in the first semester of your junior year (I dunno, if you do semesters or trimesters at your school, basically just before Christmas break).
-Get a good idea of what colleges you want to apply to and find out about average test scores for students there.
-Take the SAT towards the end of your junior year (second semester).
-Waaaaaaaait for scores.
-In the beginning of your senior year, make a definitive list of the schools you want to apply to and find out the application period for those schools.
-Send in applications when the schools start accepting and DO IT EARLY!
-Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait.

Ah ok ^^ I was supposed to take my PSAT sometime in my sophomore year but since I ended up not taking it, I don't remember when it was XD

My only advice about the test itself is to not stress out so much about it. Maybe that's not the best advice for everyone, but I had some friends who were freaking out and stressing about the PSAT AND SAT and one girl I know, who was like straight-A sickeningly over-achiever, ended up not scoring very well on it because of that. It's really not such a big deal and it's way easier than some people make it out to be.
