Since i do antenna spotting, and a fair bit of fantasy/roadside Urbex, I though I should look for a beefy zoom lens. so i got a cheap beefy zoom, 70mm-300mm

That's a pretty good range- do you have a UV filter on the front yet? The foreground is a little soft so I'm wondering if it's all the dust in the air or just getting used to manual focus. Either way, you sure get a lot of detail in every pixel with the new camera!

no uv or polarizer yet for this lens, its a bigger size, so i will have to order some.
That lens plus my 18mm-55mm kit lens, plus a few wide angle add on lenses i have gets me most of what i would want. i still want to find a nice slim light bright/fast glass lens too.
As for the softness, I think it was mostly the 3.5 cubic tons of dust per square inch. or the fact the wind was knocking me about making the photos a little more jiggly,
What's the mm threading on the tamron? I might have something for it.
If you don't mind full manual, you can often pick up an f1.4 50mm full manual lense on eBay for very little. Apply a bit of dremel work and you can mount it on the newer bodies. Very fast.
yep, it installs in the camera above the mirror and gives you the ring with the circle with 2 halves that if they line up the center is focused.
there has been lots of discussions on some of the olympus forums i was on about them, it looks like they come in all levels of quality and functionality. i will have to find a good one.

i've been missing that on my DSLR and have found that its lack makes manual focus difficult to really nail.
