So to catch all of you up who were not in on it.
Apparently my friends successfully orchestrated a stealthy plan to pitch in and replace my camera, Not merely replace my beloved glorified point and shoot Olympus Camedia 5050z, which struck the passenger side airbag with considerable force in my accident. But to get me a actual semi-professional grade
Nikon D40 DSLR camera. Jaw drops, eyes bug out, amazement continues as i opened the box. I would have been amazed by just about anything, but was blown away by the generosity of so many people (there was an awesome list in the box, I first thought it was part of the "Please don't stuff this in your mouth warnings"). Its more camera than I think I would have bought for myself even with the life insurance and tax refund, and even that extra tax rebate.
I'm not even sure I'm ready photography wise for such a sweet camera, I feel like I had only just recently found the limitations of my older camera, kinda figured i would hunt up a deal on a Olympus 8080 and use it until I found it limiting and then jump into the DSLR world (probably with a used older model) But I'm in no way complaining, I'm sure its going to take me a few months to really get a good handle on this. But I expect I will soon be back to my usual weekly romps learning new tricks.
now heres to hoping the Olympus 8080 I bid on on ebay goes up by another $25 in the next 20 hours. (thankfully I low-balled my bid.
)
So, Yes, Wow! I never in a million years would have asked for this! Its even a bit more than I would have thought putting on my xmas wishlist halfsies with my mom(were she around still) for Christmas or something.
So Congrats, I think you all got the desired result, I'm deeply amazed, and pleased and happy that so many cared enough to even think about this. and so quickly and successfully quietly. (my only clue I spotted, and I missed its connection was I recently got a increase in propel friending me on lj).
