Promise to the Stars

Summary: Changmin breathes life into Yoochun

There are days when Yoochun couldn't find strength to go on, to even stand and leave his bed. These are the days when he thinks too much and lets these thoughts fill up his head. His mind becomes a battlefield of emotions where hopelessness is winning, crushing all his joy and tramples them. He tries to close his eye and tries to sleep- he'd rather sleep away the day than deal with all his thoughts. Thoughts don't kill, that's its tragedy but it makes you want to die.
When Changmin enters the room he sees Yoochun staring out into the window, still on the bed. His hands are raised as if trying to catch the rays of the sun. He's wearing nothing but an oversized button down shirt he looked so vulnerable and so small. Changmin knows that this was one of those days when Yoochun needs him more than ever. He wishes he could see his thoughts and fight his battles for him-make it easier, he wants to be the one to take them away- to save him from himself.
Changmin comes nearer, his steps quiet as not to disturb the somber mood Yoochun is in. The climbs on the bed and lays beside Yoochun, he says nothing and only places his head on Yoochun's chest. His arm encircles his waist and closes his eyes, without saying a word he tries to make Yoochun feel his love for him. Transfers all of it to him-embraces him with the love that Yoochun lacks for himself.
He feels Yoochun's fingers on his hair, playing with them and it relaxes him. Yoochun begins to hum softly and Changmin joins him, it's there song where there are no words.
"Hey" Changmin says as he looks up at Yoochun's face as he tries to read his eyes. Yoochun doesn't say anything and just continues to play with Changmin's hair, touches his cheeks and grazes over his lips. Changmin kisses his hand as it passes over his lips and Yoochun smiles at him.
"Take me away, Min" he tells him and Changmin can't refuse. He'd do anything to take away Yoochun's mind from its battlefield even for awhile. As much as he wants to be the one to save him, he knows that Yoochun's the only one who can save him from himself. He just promises that he'll be there to patch up his wounds, kiss over the scars and love him even more.
Yoochun brings out his arm to feel the wind as the car drives fast along the deserted road and Changmin smiles through the image. The next time he looks- Yoochun's got half his body out of the window, both hands up in the air. Changmin tries to grab his shirt to pull him down to his seat.Yoochun goes back and pouts at him and Changmin only looks at him sternly, he wasn't going to fall for that puppy dog look.
Though he tries to look pissed his eyes say otherwise, for that short moment he sees Yoochun's eyes light up and regain its life. Yoochun fumbles over the radio, switching stations for what seems like a hundred times before deciding just to turn it off. But obviously he can't take the silence and just begins to hum while tapping his fingers. It's some random melody probably just made on the spot but it sounds good and it fills the silence. Yoochun starts singing Time after Time and Changmin's sure it's not supposed to sound that way. He even sings the guitar riffs, the background other accompaniments and Changmin can't help but laugh. Yoochun sings the chorus and Changmin thinks it fits him and how he thinks about Yoochun.

Yoochun practically sings every version he knows and at one point urges Changmin to sing with him. He does reluctantly and he sings it out of tune just to piss the other off. Yoochun slaps his arm "Sing it seriously!" and Changmin just sings it more out of tune and louder. Changmin laughs while Yoochun tries and fails to hurt the other with his slapping. He slows down the car and parks in a corner. Yoochun's too busy slapping the younger man's arm to notice that they've reached their destination.
They get out of the car and Changmin holds his hand out for Yoochun and they walk towards "their" spot. It's just a bench in a park overlooking the city, it was ordinary but to them it meant a lot. Yoochun puts his head on Changmin's shoulder and tightens his hold on the other's hand. They look at the stars and it couldn't be more beautiful but Changmin thinks that the real beauty is the person he's holding right now.
By now Yoochun's mind is light and relaxed, all thoughts of hopelessness has disappeared. It amazes him how one person can change his mood and breathe life into him. Sometimes he can't believe that Changmin chose him but is thankful nonetheless.
"Changmin, thank you" he whispers and he only looks at him with questioning eyes. He just smiles, kisses his lips and pokes at his nose. Changmin just rolls his eyes at Yoochun's antics and pokes his forehead.
"Just thank you" for everything, for choosing me, for loving me, for being with me.
He wants to do the same-to be the pillar in Changmin's life and for once be the one that protects him. He wants to be a better person and not let the demons in his head get the better of him, to never let the thoughts take over. He'll change not for Changmin but for himself so he'd be able to love Changmin properly, the way he deserves to be loved.
He makes a promise to the stars, a promise to his heart and a promise for him. He won't let the demons win anymore, won't let weakness crush his soul and he'd love Changmin with all of him and more.
He'll make himself worthy of Changmin's love.
