Relative to other great civilizations, how long has ours been in...err...power? Not long at all, I don't think. I mean sure things are different, but how different exactly...and is it in ways that have a significant impact? Take Rome for example, as far as technology, they were primitive to today's. But doesn't that mean that we'd be wiped out that much faster? Nuclear war and everything would make it pretty quick it seems. All it takes, I guess, is for someone else to get the upper hand.
