[Cue Kurapica standing not too far off, watching in astonishment. Later, he might be somewhat concerned about the practical problems of raising a dragon in the Gundam Building, but for now: dragon hatching. Pretty cool.]

I wonder: will it need to eat anything when it hatches?

[Killua runs in with towels just as Kurapica asks his question and stalls. Crap. This is Gon's area of expertise.]

...Can babies eat meat?

With such a large reptilian as a dragon, I imagine it will already have a developed stomach that's able to digest meat. I'm not sure, however.

[Yep, definitely Gon's area of expertise.]

We've got plenty of leftovers as long as it can.

If not... We've gotta liquify it somehow. Right? Babies drink stuff - like milk.

Yeah, it may require transformation Nen...or a fire. [He can't use transformation Nen to his best when his eyes aren't scarlet, so Killua would have to do it if they use Nen.]

It may also be that the dragon already possesses the means to find food on its own when it hatches. Some species of turtle eat their own egg shells after they're born. [A.k.a., Kurapica is full of useless information and doesn't really know for sure.]

...That's kinda cool. [For all he can do, even he can't eat egg shells.]

[He could spout more about it. Egg shells would be a high source of protein and also readily available for struggling baby turtles, but he'll just focus on more pressing matters.]

I hope that's the case with the dragon currently hatching. If we can't solve its hunger, I'm glad it's not big enough to eat me.

It won't eat us. We'll be like its parents 'cause we'll be the first thing it sees.

[He seems rather confident about this.]

Though that would be the logical conclusion, I hope you're right...

[If that thing becomes a menace to them, he's not going to hesitate in killing it.]

[Killua expects nothing less. That's just what you do when something becomes a menace.]

I will be.

[He turns back to watch the spectacle. It's not often Killua gets to be excited about normal things like pets. Nevermind that the pet is a dragon.]

[Kurapica nods and returns to watching the spectacle. On the other hand, if it did turn out to be tameable, a dragon would be a big help.]
