!@$#!@!! TV Guide spoiled me last week when I thumbed to Thursday and noticed that there was no shiny red "NEW " next to Supernatural's blurb. So I read it, confused, expecting the description of a rerun even though I thought we had 4 new episodes in a row and then I was all WTF?? NOOO!!!
So I thought I knew what to expect.
This episode twisted and gyrated and looped and refused to go in any sane direction. I was expecting Dean to die the exact same way each time and then he GOT HIT BY A CAR AND WENT A-FLYING. And then A DESK FELL ON TOP OF HIM. And then he CHOKED ON A FLIPPING SAUSAGE. And it just kept going and going until my brain was mush and I wandered around the apartment aimlessly during the commercial breaks, trying to get a grip. Suddenly, we were at the 30 minute mark and there was resolution. (I am so thankful for my worthless short-term memory sometimes because I was completely unspoiled by the Trickster's actor's name in the opening credits.) I suppose I should have seen it coming that Dean freaking DIES FOR REAL but I didn't. And I most definitely did not see the 3-month jump coming. The sudden switch in moods might not have worked for some people but it worked for me. This episode seemed twice as long as a result. Raise your hand: Who thought (Terminator!)Sammy had shot The Real Bobby™? Yeah. Angst.
I thought the finger-snap was a nice continuation of the previous episode (although supposedly 3.11 and 3.12 were switched?). The Trickster for some reason is on the Winchesters' side of the Demon War, Sam wakes up 3 months earlier, Dean's not dead, and a collective fangirly squee was heard around the world in response to the best hug ever.
I think the only thing I didn't like was the title. Mystery Spot
Bissell commercial anyone?
Also, I am so taking a road trip to the
Oregon Vortex.
