[1780] Expensive (awesome) day

Nov 11, 2013 20:28

I spent a lot of money today, and it was so deliciously worth it.

Our story starts at 6:20 a.m., when I reluctantly rolled out of bed and stumbled into the shower. I managed to get out of the house by 7:15 and to work by 7:45, which meant I could put in a solid hour researching property tax updates before I had to leave for my doctor's appointment. My new doctor is at the new University of Utah Health Care center in South Jordan/Daybreak, which is GORGEOUS. Light, open, beautifully designed and furnished, and all the examination rooms are staggered down these halls with sliding wooden doors that just look really cool.

My doctor was warm and friendly, and I really liked both of the assistants I saw too. To sum up, I'm in good health: height 5'6 3/4", weight 177 (fully dressed), blood pressure 102/80. I got prescriptions for a topical acne medication and an oral birth control (which should help with the acne and with my debilitating menstrual cramps). I also got blood drawn to test for a nut allergy, and I got a flu shot.

Then I went back to work until 5:00, whereupon I left to meet Fi at Fashion Place Mall in Murray. I arrived early, so I wandered through Z Galleria and Crate and Barrel before ending up at Eddie Bauer, where the Most Helpful Saleslady Ever guided me through the process of getting new jeans. I ended up with a pair of curvy straight-leg dark wash jeans which look fantastic--seriously, I kept looking at myself in the mirror and thinking, "Wow, I look great." Which...has not happened in a very long time. The 25 lbs I've lost as of this morning have had an astonishing effect, particularly on my face.

I also got two shirts, both 20% off--a grey long-sleeve waffle-weave henley, and a long-sleeve navy and white horizontal stripe with a scoop-neck. Casual but very comfy, perfect for fall weekends. I'm still looking for riding boots; maybe this weekend.

After Eddie Bauer I met Fi at Sephora for the VIB 20% off sale. I got an eyebrow pencil--I tried the sample on one of my brows, and it looks SO MUCH BETTER--some more powder foundation, and some CC cream and foundation primer. I also experimented with lip stains, which left me looking like a startled vampire. I like how long-lasting they are, but methinks I need to find a more appropriate color.

We had dinner at Corner Bakery, then stopped by Z Galleria again to look at some prints that had caught my eye when I was wandering earlier. We ended up each getting one from a set framed, sepia-toned Parisian cafe canvas prints. They are currently still leaning against the living room wall, still in their wrappings and bag; this apartment doesn't deserve them, but they'll look stunning in the new place.

And I keep browsing for sofas and armchairs. I cannot wait for this move.
