Authors Note: This is dedicated to
isis_uf who is the biggest Sirius and Regulus fangirl I have ever met,
andacus who is Sirius personified in female form (she proved it all over again tonight),
celtmama who is black mailing me for Regulus fic, and
gijane7702 just because.
1.) Regulus and Sirius were much closer than anyone ever realized, even though they rarely saw eye to eye.
2.) Regulus’ first kiss was with his cousin Narcissa. He was six, she was twelve.
3.) Sirius and Regulus only made each other cry once. Regulus bit Sirius on the wrist so hard he brought blood and in retaliation Sirius punched Regulus in the face, breaking his nose. Their angry sobs were so loud their father put a silencing charm on their room (not even bothering to heal their wounds) so they wouldn’t disturb their mother.
If you had ever gotten a chance to look closely at Sirius’ left wrist, you would have seen that he had a bite shaped scar. Regulus had a slightly crooked nose for the rest of his life.
4.) The sorting hat attempted to put Regulus in Gryffindor with his brother but he flat out refused, threatening to turn the hat into a throw pillow. The hat relented and placed him where he asked, Slytherin. Later that night, as he lay awake staring at the ceiling, he had already come to regret his decision.
5.) Regulus slept with a plush snake until his first year at Hogwarts. He only stopped because his dorm mates found out and teased him mercilessly.
6.) Second year Sirius gave James a sound thrashing for calling his mum insane. Not because he was offended on his mum’s behalf but because it hit a little too close to home.
7.) Regulus was better at Potions than Sirius was. And even though Sirius would never admit it, he envied his brother’s prowess.
8.) The flying motorbike was actually Regulus’ idea. He came up with it the summer of his fourth year when he and his brother buggered off to Muggle London one exceedingly boring afternoon.
9.) Sirius’ first shag was with a girl named Dandy Quirke under the Quidditch stands during fifth year. He didn’t find out Remus had her first until his seventh.
10.) The night Sirius ran away he asked Regulus to come with him.
11.) Although Regulus didn’t agree with his brother’s decision to leave, he never loved him more than he did that night, simply because he asked him to come too.
12.) Years later, after Regulus figured out what a mess he’d made of his life, he really wished he’d gone with him.
13.) The happiest day of Sirius’ life was the day his godson was born.
14.) He could never decide if the saddest was the day Regulus died or the day the Potters died. He reckoned they were both right up there in the running for the worst day ever.
15.) Regulus very nearly died a virgin. If it hadn’t been for Madame Rosmerta and her kind heart, he would have.
16.) Regulus was one of the five Death Eaters that helped kill the Prewett brothers and he was the one to cast the fatal blow to Fabian.
17.) Bellatrix killed Regulus, too.
18.) Regulus’ last thoughts before dying were of how he had surely disappointed his brother.
19.) Sirius never fully forgave himself for not being able to save Regulus.
20.) The day Sirius died he was not met on the other side by James like he expected. Instead, he found Regulus there, he smiled and said, “I’ve been waiting for you.” Any semblance of ill-will and regret was forgotten as Regulus led his brother down the corridor to the reunion with his best friend.
And a bonus fact: Regulus really wasn’t as bad as everyone thought. He was just afraid of his mother. He knew she would have killed him if he’d followed in Sirius’ footsteps. Looking back, he thinks that would probably have been preferable.
