FF and other news

On the other paw, I was able to see and enjoy more friends like that and I will surely use this experience to change my behavior at future conventions to try and reach a good median between friends and con activities.

I wish I would have been able to help more especially after all the help I, we received last year for WTF, but I ended up helping FF even less then I usually do.  But enough for the regrets, I want to chatter about the positive parts of my con experience.

First, the hotel, even with the feeling of being in a labyrinth was simply GRRREAT.  Everything seemed to go smoothly and everywhere you were looking people where smiling.

Even though I was not feeling that great, I was able to share a moment with Brad and I am happy to have learned to know him better.

I also was able to keep my promises and it was delightful to take care of the feet of a very good bear friend who definitely needed such attention that weekend.

I found a couple of nice used books to buy in the dealers’ room and I commissioned a very special drawing from Hollyann.

It was the first time I had the opportunity to see Runtt play live with his band and even though it would have been better if he could have found a soundman to be there as he played, I truly enjoyed the performance.  I also was very touched when again he slipped a song into his deaddog mix just for me and I felt really bad that I couldn’t participate this year, even more so since it was his last FF.  I hope he felt all the emotion I tried to convey when I thanked him.

Sunday, I was feeling a bit better so I tried to take some pictures.  I got a few ones that I am proud of.  I still have to forward them to the people in question (which I hope to do this weekend if I am still alive).

But my most precious moment of the con was after tearing the headless lounge.  I was hanging around the staff members that were cooling off, not wanting the con to end and making myself as invisible as possible.  Well Belic was rubbing my back (to which felt good and bad at the same time; I was feeling so selfish…) .  He was telling me how he was doing and we had a bit of small talk going when some fur approached (with good intentions mind you) to tell him that this FF was their first con and how awesome everything was except… that they should think about changing the first DJ on Friday night.

I had to concentrate a lot not to burst off laughing while Bear was trying to keep smiling and maintain a polite demeanor with the young lad.   If it weren’t in fear of upsetting the attendee, I would have laughed out loud.  I came to understand that Belic and I share a very similar way to see life and to deal with what happens to us and I hope he too would have seen the strange humor in that moment.

And finally, I got the news that next year, I might be lucky enough to room again with a good friend.

In other life-worthy news:

Because of my emphysema, I have been coughing continuously since FF up until last week.  I went to close the house in St-Donat, took my mom’s dog for the winter and now we have to catch up on six months of brushing and baths.  I also have to start working more actively on WTF.

In the meantime, I decided to start to exercise again and now I know what I will look like when I am 70 YO and it is not a pretty sight.  I can just hope that I will regain proper mean of walking around within a week or so…

More updates to follow soon…
