Oh, LJ. You, like me phone, will never die. Though you may go through indeterminate periods of neglect, I will always wind up back at you, feeding you full of useless pretty things.

Maybe a LIFE UPDATE later, but for now, an hour to kill and a torrent, a slew, a wave of aesthetic tidbits with no function other than to distract from shit that matters.

Sigh, finals week. Can you tell?

-Collagist Rubén B does some really lovely stuff, public installations

Deer Woman

chalk and ink drawings, plates

Pantocrator

Save Me from What I Am

Untitled, for Max-O-Matic

etc, but I really like his collages. I think the majority of collage art I see is really chaotic and swirling, which is appropo and whatever, but I have a weird fondness for how sparse and restrained these are. The following are from his ongoing projects; The Out Load Collages, I Need Glasses Collages, and Sasha Gray was here. Side/Obvious Note: You don't even have to fucking SEE her to know how ridiculous hot she is. Bitch.

-Artist, designer, urban planner Candy Chang has a super cool project, I Wish This Was going on this winter in New Orleans. Locals can pick up her custom stickers almost anywhere around town, and put them wherever they feel like something else should be. Love it, great evolution of the Hello My Name Is stickers. Cute/poignant examples below:

-Even with all my disposable income and free time, I did not set my heart on going to Miami Art Week, so I wasn't too disappointed until I saw ANIMAL's highlight photo gallery. So much cool stuff! Sorry to just blatantly rip their scrounging through tons of photo galleries, but shut up. Artist's names, not the names of the works, below them.

SCOPE

Anthony Lister (love the matchstick in the mouth)

James Cohan Gallery (unsettling, yah!)

Unknown (to me)

Basel (which should be titled: Humineralmorphasis, or How Tripping Balls at an Art Gallery Can Go Wrong)

-Just a one shot from Jorge Pineda I adore:

-Photographer Bryan Ferguson has some pretty standard eye candy shots, so here is obligatory film sweetness. Tinted, vaguely disturbing sweetness.

-LOLHipsterSuperheroes!

-Self-described conceptual still life photographer Massimo Gammacurta (he did the designer logo lollipops that were making the interwebz rounds a while ago) has two awesome collections, one entitled Weapons Story, wherein he tacks together beauty products to resemble weaponry, and another called Sex in the City: The Sunglasses Story, a super voyeuristic series using sunglasses to frame covert sexual scenes around the city. Love 'em both, but his work is hugely extensive, awesome site to browse!
