Not that I ever feel the need to explain myself to anybody, or that I honestly care what other people think of me unless they're important to me. And anyone that's important wouldn't judge me on something so trivial as a political viewpoint....however...
I've been told I was a racist. That I have betrayed my own standards and ideals, not to mention my political party and my country. Yes, that's right, I voted for "the other guy".
Now..if you know me, you can figure out that as far as my own ideals, I'm more on the liberal side of most every important issue. I am fiercely pro-choice. I support gun control to the point that I believe we should have a constitutional amendment to fix the problem. State-Funded Healthcare, you betcha! To be honest, about the only issue that's pressing America at this time that I lean right on is immigration, and I lean EXTREMELY right. ("Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses"? Bitch...close the fucking book till we get it figured out)
So, why would I vote GOP? For one thing, race was *NEVER* an issue. Nor was it resentment over Hillary Clinton. Believe me people, I paid very close attention up to the 11th hour for something, ANYTHING, that would convince me to vote for Obama. He said it himself, that this election should not be about race, or gender, but about who was best qualified to lead this country.
You know....he could very damn well be an incredible leader, and I guess we're going to get the chance to find out. Fact of the matter is, I don't know if he will be. John McCain may not have the same ideas on issues that I do, but I was quite confident that he could run this country.
I hope Obama proves to be as competent as everyone thinks he is. I don't even think he won't be...I just have no fucking idea yet. Lots of talk for two years, with no real plan. Some sketchy Marxist comments. All I know is, we've had 8 years of a leader who didn't know what the fuck he was doing...it's entirely possible we'll have at least four more. Only time will tell.
