Visit with pediatrician

*ouch* I think this little boy had a growth spurt in the past 24 hours because my stomach hurts. It's the pain of skin stretching and not so pleasant. If I get up from this chair I get a sharp pain on my right side near the bellybutton. He helps matters by refusing to shift to the left side, of course. ;) Ok, now I'm thinking he can come out next week if he wants! haha

I had a visit with our son's pediatrician today. Really, I probably didn't need to waste the doctor's time. He's my former pediatrician and I only stopped seeing him 3 years ago. I didn't have him as a baby though. We moved to the States when I was 13 and that's when I started seeing this doctor. Anyway, I trust him, and that is why I didn't bother looking elsewhere.

His office is about 20 minutes away which is a bit of a bummer. Everything I've read says you should choose a pediatrician who isn't too far. However, one also has to take into consideration the trust issue.

Anyway, I didn't have much left to ask him after they handed me a brochure for the office (that, and I already know him). I did ask his opinion on delaying vaccinations. Maybe 'delaying' wasn't the word I should have used. Basically, he said he would not recommend delaying vaccinations but he leaves the decision up to the parents. I think by 'delaying' he was talking more about delaying for like 2 years though. I did not mean that. I would just like to give one vaccine at a time, say one per month. I know a lot of babies who became ill (cold type of ill) after having more than 1 shot at a time. I looked at the vaccination schedule for babies and at 2 months they're supposed to get 4 or 5! So, I'll have to research a little more about vaccinations and then I'll work something out with Dr. Sasankan.

Dr. Sasankan told me to let him know when the baby is born and he will come visit the baby at the hospital. He said that way he could also determine if I might need help with breastfeeding and I guess then I could get someone to check on us at home. Elias will have his first appointment when he's a week old to check on weight gain since he'll be breastfed.

I need to run out the door now. Hassan just called and he needs to be picked up from work.
