Kyung sighed softly, staring off into space at the place Minhyuk had previously been standing in. He had a problem, it was big, he didn’t even know how to fix it either. He had liked to think he was straight, liked to tell everyone he had the same preference for honey thighs as all normal boys did. But that was before he started having these feelings. And they were feelings that he didn’t know where they’d come from.
He liked when Minhyuk was close to him, when the elder would put his arm over his shoulders or when they’d take a selca together. Or going for walks or practicing together. All normal things they did regularly, but lately they held a different significance for the visual rapper. And then he’d find himself getting jealous over silly things. Like if Minhyuk posed closely with Jiho or one of the other boys for a picture. When Minhyuk chose to go get ice cream with Yukwon or something else trivial like that. Kyung didn’t even understand, he was straight and even aside from that, he wasn’t dating Minhyuk and they weren’t even that close to each other. But he had these feelings anyways.
Sighing, Kyung shifted his attention to the general direction of the TV only to blush when he caught Jaehyo looking at him with that infuriating all-knowing expression of his. The ulzzang could see through him and everyone else, easily, even when they were trying to hide something. It was annoying and he knew it was too. Glaring at the other slightly, Kyung stood up and went into the kitchen to grab a bottle of tea or something. Anything to distract himself from his current train of thoughts.
Of course though, because the world is out to get him, Minhyuk was right there, staring absently into the fridge as if it held the answers to the universe. Kyung bit his lip before clearing his throat slightly, looking at the older boy questioningly. Minhyuk jumped and looked over his shoulder and flushed slightly, smiling sheepishly and stepping back from the fridge. “Hey… there’s nothing to eat…or drink even.” He pouted slightly and Kyung inwardly died, finding it to be the cutest thing. And he hated himself the instant the thought crossed his mind. Because he was not supposed to find other boys cute.
Trying to pretend like nothing was bothering him, least of all the other boy; Kyung laughed softly and shrugged his shoulders. “Jihoon’s probably hoarding everything again; I thought Jiho talked to him about that though.” He pursed his lips and then sighed and smiled slightly at Minhyuk. “Wanna go grab a bite then?” He motioned behind him, vaguely towards the front door. He didn’t think the other would accept, but then again there were a lot of things that weren’t making sense lately too.
Minhyuk, instead of turning him down like he’d have expected, smiled and nodded his head gratefully. “Please, I think I need to get out anyways.” The dancer patted himself down for his wallet before shutting the fridge and making his way to the door, looking back at Kyung, who was standing there looking like a fish out of water, to see if the other was still coming. Shaking his head, the visual member nodded and followed after the other, also checking for his wallet. He looked back at a smirking Jaehyo and waved absently, trying to ignore the burning in his cheeks as he pushed Minhyuk out the door, trying to get out of sight as soon as possible.
“Where do you want to go?” Minhyuk pursed his lips at the question and shrugged absently, looking around the immediate area and sighing softly.
“I feel like we eat at the places around here too much, but it’s too much work to go somewhere else...” Minhyuk laughed softly at his laziness and Kyung found himself feeling strangely giddy at the sound. He waved his hand through the air and smiled at the elder boy.
“There’s lots of places in walking distance we haven’t been to. We might just have to walk for a bit.” He pursed his lips and then shrugged, picking a random direction for them to start in. “How about we walk until we see a restaurant we don’t know?” He smiled slightly, lips forming into a pout when Minhyuk only laughed at him and shook his head.
“We could be walking for hours if we do that. I don’t mind walking but that could be dangerous, you know?” He smiled gently and roughed up Kyung’s hair slightly before picking a different direction. “There is a restaurant about ten minutes that way I’ve been wanting to try though. You game?” He started walking anyways, having got the feeling Kyung would go anywhere without too much questioning. And sure enough the younger followed him easily, keeping in stride and walking maybe a little too close for comfort. But Minhyuk wasn’t going to say anything; because if he was honest with himself, he kind of liked it.
It took them more like twenty minutes to get to the restaurant in question, because Kyung kept tripping over his own feet and Minhyuk kept having to haul him back up before he broke his face or something. By the time they got there, they were breathless from laughing and more than a little embarrassed for being so clumsy. Inside was slow but still full of people who were probably regulars and Kyung bit his lip as he looked around, letting Minhyuk take the lead. The elder found them a seat out of the way and mostly private, at the back of the restaurant and away from the almost-non-existing-hype.
“It’s quaint…” He nodded his head and smiled slightly when the waiter came and set down a pot of tea with a couple of cups as well as menus. He then excused himself to give them a few moments to decided what they wanted. Kyung smiled slightly as he opened the menu, deciding that quaint wasn’t so bad, as long as the food tasted good.
“That’s what I like about it; it looks so homey from the outside.” Minhyuk smiled, mostly to himself it seemed as he was facing the menu, but it was a smile nonetheless and Kyung really liked the elder’s dimples. The younger watched Minhyuk for a moment, biting his lip before the other looked up and he flushed and looked back at his own menu. Lips pursed and brows furrowed, deliberating over the surprisingly vast selection. And the prices were pretty cheap too, which happened to make a small smile appear on Kyung’s face, he was always one for a bargain.
He looked up when he heard Minhyuk laughed softly, “you’re silly.” Kyung flushed when he looked up, Minhyuk was smiling at him and he never smiled at him like that. Actually, he’d never seen Minhyuk smile at anyone like that; it was an odd situation, that was for sure. “Have you decided what you want? I think I’m going to get the soup and sandwich.” He nodded slightly and closed his menu, picking up the tea pot and pouring for both of them.
“Oh um…” Kyung looked back at the menu and bit his lip, dragging his finger over the glossy pages and humming slightly. “Maybe this pasta dish… it’s got chicken in it.” He nodded slightly and then shrugged, closing his menu and taking a sip of the tea.
“So…you’ve been staring at me a lot lately…” Minhyuk raised a brow slightly and tilted his head, resting it on his palm and his lips twisting slightly, obviously trying not to smile or laugh.
“I have not! What gave you that idea?” Kyung blushed slightly and spluttered into his tea, setting the cup down and looking down, mumbling his order to the waiter when he came back. He tried his best not to feel embarrassed by the way Minhyuk was chuckling at him.
“I’ve seen you staring, Jaehyo’s seen you staring and Jiho’s always making fun of how you get so upset when I show a little attention to someone who’s not you. Is it jealousy? Do you like me?” Minhyuk tilted his head slightly and smirked, his tongue sliding sensually over his lower lip because he knew that Kyung was watching. And the visual rapper was definitely watching, because he was always watching the dancer. Not that he wanted to seem like a stalker or anything.
“N-no… I’m not gay, that’s not even funny.” He shook his head absently and looked down at the table surface, reaching for his napkin where he’d spilled his tea, mopping it up for lack of something better to do.
Minhyuk laughed softly and shook his head, “you might not be gay but your behaviour suggests otherwise. You can tell me, I won’t say anything.” He toyed with the tea cup slightly, looking up and leaning back to order a soda when the waiter came back to apologize for the wait. Kyung pouted slightly and looked down, avoiding Minhyuk’s gaze and tapping his fingers on the table lightly. He jumped slightly when the elder cleared his throat, his eyes shooting up and his gaze taking in the raised brow and the impatient pout. The other boy didn’t like waiting and Kyung still wasn’t sure if he was ready to tell the other how he felt. Even though it was obvious that Minhyuk already knew how he felt.
“Well?” Minhyuk cocked his head to the side slightly and then sighed softly, turning his head away and pursing his lips. Obviously unhappy with Kyung’s silence.
The rapper took in a breath and waved his hand in front of Minhyuk’s face, “uh… hyung…” He puffed his cheeks up and then let out a breath. “Okay, yeah, I like you. There, I said it.” He wrinkled his nose and then leaned back in his seat and flushed slightly, the waiter having seemed to appear out of nowhere to place their meals in front of them, along with the ordered soda. When Kyung looked back up at the dancer, Minhyuk was smiling brightly, dimple flashing into existence. And that, to Kyung, was all he needed for the confession to be worth the embarrassment.
As well as Minhyuk saying “I already knew that, I just wanted you to say it.” Of course.
