In Loving Memory

Apr 05, 2011 19:14

My mom put Sunny to sleep today some time after 4:30 this afternoon. I'm still waiting for my mom to call me and tell me that Sunny's resting peacefully now. I'm still feeling incredibly numb. (Edit: I just got the call from mom. Sunny's gone. Now I'm a wreck.)

Sunny's been getting progressively sicker these last few weeks since I came back to school. Her kidneys finally failed her, and my mom said Dr. Hall (our vet) told her that Sunny was probably in a lot of pain. She's in a better place. In mom's words "On the rainbow bridge with Sydney."

I've had Sunny since I was 5 or 6, so that makes her over 14 years old, nearly 15. She was an old lady, and it's only fair that we let her move on peacefully, as is her right as a member of our family. She saw mom and I through the loss of Sydney and through the training of Satchi, now we owe her a rest.
Sunny, I already miss you dearly and I desperately hoped that I could have been there for you before you slept for the last time. Rest in Peace, Sunsun, as a pawprint on my heart. I love you.
