I've had various best friends over the years. Like every person, life happens and circumstances prevent people from contacting each other for any length of time. Mine was mostly my phone phobia and the fact that my parents were not keen on letting me visit other people's houses, or people visiting us. (what if their parents are serial killers?!) So I never had the chance to go on a proper sleepover :(
My best friend from when I was four to about 3rd grade (so about 8?) was a girl named Ruby S. She was my next door neighbor and we were the same age. I learned a lot of my English while playing Barbies with her, good times. We had a lot of fun as kids, I was probably the most active when I was playing with Ruby. We climbed trees, pranked her brother, pranked my cousin Alex, played in the washing machines...loads of fun. She moved away right before 2nd grade started and we lost contact. We exchanged phone numbers, but I was awfully phone shy (still am) so we didn't call much :( In a fit of irony, she moved back to the same house (her grandmother's) when I moved away in 4th grade. OTL
But Ruby will always have a place in my heart ♥ I do wonder how she is sometimes.
I didn't have a "best friend" until middle school-ish really. (8/9th grade). I had friends that were kind of best friends but not quite. (Jennifer B, Hudson N, Rose C, Margie H, Michael L.) It didn't help that I was in a different school from 4th, 5th, 6th grades. Stupid school boundaries.
My best friend in 8th/9th grade was a gal named Alexis L. Alexis was a real ball of energy to be around and we had fun acting idiotic lol. It was also through Alexis that I got into anime/drawing. Oh the days of Sailor Moon and Fushigi Yuugi. Never leave me.
In high school I once again reunited with Hudson and Rose--but by now they were quite different from our elementary school days. And of course in high school, people mostly tended to hang out with people in their cliches. I was in the Asian kid/weeaboo crowd lmao. Rose was still as quirky fun as ever but was a "drama/choir kid". Hudson, however became a jock. I had a mad crush on him in 4th grade and kind of still had a crush on him for a lot of high school but he was an arrogant assface to me so w/e :(
ANYWAYS. My best friends in high school were Mellini and sweethikari . I even gave them nicknames---Kabe and Terebi. They had somewhat different backgrounds--Kabe was more tomboyish and was into judo/shonen manga. I made crude jokes with her all the time. Terebi was more feminine and was into choir and shojo manga. She was the more sensitive weirdo.
But I gotta say, Terebi is my best friend. She lived with us for a while, (long story) but we grew super close from that year living together. Even now I can talk to her about anything and everything. She's such a supportive friend, and dare I say sister, and always knows exactly what to say at any situation. She's a sweetheart and deserves all the happiness in the world. ilu bb ♥
I really value friendships in all shapes and forms. Be that we were only friends for a short while or even online friends, I cannot stress how i I care too much. Even though a lot of these people I lost contact with over time, the fond memories will never fade. I guess I"m sappy like that.
