God I so bad at this

And by 'this,' I mean life. Not that anyone would know, because I never update this damn thing.

Thanksgiving was fine. It meant spending a lot of time with my mother's side of the family, including some relatives from Iowa that I normally don't see very often (usually only once, maybe twice a year). The only bad part of Thanksgiving, really, was the fact that no one grabbed any leftover stuffing before I left my aunt's, which meant that my father wasn't able to make hash the next day.* V. sad. We will rectify it by making stuffing at Christmas and frying up some turkey breast so hash can be made. Mmmmmmmm.

And on Friday, my parents got a new dog. She's a white, border-collie mix and is about 1 1/2 - 2 years old (we think; she's a shelter dog). We've renamed her Sasha, and she seems to be a quick learner. She just needs to remember certain "NO" commands better, such as "No! Down! No jumping!" or "No! No, stop barking!" or "No! No kitty!"
As expected, the cats all object to this new presence and have kept their distance for the most part. They'll adjust slowly.

So know I just need to buckle down and freaking write some more. Not only do I need to write more of my novel/thesis, but I have two more papers and wrap up a portfolio for my poetry class. And as Laura can tell you, I'm not usually very good at 'buckling down' and doing anything productive for very long, even when it is writing that I enjoy. After all, I have the attention span of ADHD three year old.

Well, bring on the coffee and the booze, and let's get to work!

* For those unaware, hash is my dad's usual Thanksgiving-leftovers meal. You fry up some onion and turkey, throw in some stuffing, pile the whole mess on mashed potatoes and smother it in gravy. Delicious.
