Wegmans cake puts Costco cake to shame

Until recently, I thought that Costco cake was the pinnacle of gigantic sheet cakes, possibly just because it appears at every FTC function.  My cousins assured me that Wegmans cake was better and it...so, so was.

Five funny stories from my cousin's party tonight:

1.  I had a nice conversation with one of the moms about looking and sounding young, and constantly getting carded.  Apparently before they had kids, she and her husband ordered drinks somewhere and they only carded her, which was quite upsetting.  A while later, when they were leaving, her husband asked me which of the kids was mine.  I stared open-mouthed for longer than I possibly should have before stammering that I didn't have children.  Hehe.

2.  Actual quote from my five year old cousin: "I'm a balloon, try to blow me!"
The context was that he was bored of all of the grown ups decorating instead of playing with him and he wanted me to stop blowing up balloons and play "running around the house and annoying parents" instead.

3.  I was the one who held the pinata out over the second floor balcony so the kiddos could hit it.  Once the candy spilled out, I pulled it up to retrieve all of the stuck candy.  A bunch of the older kiddos (7!  8!  Oh, the CONVERSATION!) rushed up to me and demanded the excess candy because "you're a grown up and grown ups don't like candy."  Um...wrong on both counts and also you're as tall as I am.  boo.

4.  Most common method of greeting me tonight: "So you're Madhu Mamiya*'s daughter."
My response: "yes, they say I have his nose."
The most awesome of these conversations involved a woman describing in detail how I looked like different of my dad's sisters.  My dad learned to text message!  I texted him about what happened and he responded!

5.  There was this one seven year old there who I really wanted to strangle.  I'm fairly certain I was just like her at that age.

*Somehow, in a way that I don't understand, this has to do with how the person speaking is related to my dad.
