Howard Stern, I love you. I love you so much right now. He asked all the questions I would have asked, plus he 'shipped Adam/Christina, plus he knows James was student council president. Gold star for you, Howard.
FINALLY, PJ SPEAKS. He's been in the band long enough to figure out how to get a word in edgewise.
You guys, I would be more okay with Jesse getting kicked out of the band for "harping on" craniosacral therapy if it meant Adam spent more interviews talking about Jesse and nonchalantly shrugging off his weirdness. Of course he quit to be a masseuse. He's Jesse.

Howard: And this explains the band dynamic. You're in the green room, you were rehearsing Yesterday.
Adam: [quietly] We were fighting.
Howard: And you started fighting.
Adam: Yeah.
Howard: Because you, Adam, felt the song should go a certain way, and basically, James felt it went another way.
James: Yes.
Adam: We also fight so much we don't even realize when we're fighting. Or where.
Howard: So you were fighting over how the song goes. What part were you fighting over in the song?
James: We were fighting over whether it went directly to the five chord or from the two chord to the five chord.
Adam: This is Chinese to him.
Howard: Let me hear.
[play both chords]
James: I was playing directly to the five chord.
Adam: Which I had heard, and said that's not correct.
Howard: You were able to listen to that and go, no, that's not how The Beatles did it?
Adam: That is correct.
Howard: Wow. That's impressive.
Adam: And they were fighting with me, and I was like, listen guys, download the fucking original and we'll settle this right now.
Howard: It turned out Adam was right.
James: Adam was right, and we always have these arguments and he was right this time, which hurts me, just kills me.
Adam: Wait wait, I was right. Can I just interrupt you for one second? You can't, you gotta just accept in this particular instance I was right. Don't bring up other times that I was wrong.
And then James explains why he did it that way (because that's how Tony did it on The Voice, so he figured that was how Adam was going to do it) and they argue about THAT.
As much as I love the fighting over completely ridiculous things, never mind all that, Howard singlehandedly resurrected my OTP.

Howard: PJ Morton is the new keyboard player, because they threw out the old one.
Adam: No. That is not true.
Howard: You did. Where is the old one?
Adam: Um, okay. We didn't kick him out.
Howard: Yes, you did.
Adam: We didn't, actually.
Howard: He said he wanted to go become a cranioscaral... therapy.
Adam: Wow, do you actually have that written down?
Howard: What is that?
Robin: Craniosacral?
Adam: I think it's like massage... he wanted to go to massage school, so he quit Maroon 5.
Howard: He quit Maroon 5 to become a masseuse.
Adam: Essentially. I mean, it sounds funny, but...
Howard: It wasn't because he wasn't agreeing with your new direction, and he wasn't going along with the flow?
James: It would seem like that, but he's wanted to take a break for a long time. I mean, we've been doing this...
Howard: Why would someone want to do that?
Adam: He's a strange dude.
James: We've been doing this so intensely for twelve years, this is all we've been doing, and Jesse's been in the band with Adam for twenty years. He wanted a break.
Adam: Do you want to know why he left?
Howard: Yeah, why'd he leave?
Adam: I'll tell you exactly why. It's not particularly interesting. I've known him since I was twelve years old. We met in seventh grade. We started the band in eighth grade or ninth grade. What eventually became Maroon 5. We've been together that long. And he's been doing this for eighteen years of his life. We've been 100% dedicated to it, every shred of our time has gone to doing this, we wrote a lot of songs together, the original hits that we had written, we wrote together. Over the years, he's gotten interested in pursuing other things.
Howard: Massage.
Adam: Whatever. That was just one thing he was harping on at the moment. He just kind of wants to, you know, he's had a wonderful time, he's made a bunch of money, he kind of wanted to go and try to live a different kind of life for a little while.
Howard: Was he tired of living in your shadow?
Adam: No. I think he was tired of living on the road, I think that it was particularly hard on him. Everybody's different.
Howard: Do you still speak to him?
Adam: Yeah! I talked to him yesterday. We're super close. All of us are still really close. He's taking a bit of a break, and we said, listen, the door's open, come back.
23:05
Robin: Can you imagine being a musician and saying I want to be a masseuse?
Howard: That makes no sense, Robin.
Adam: Jesse's a strange kid. I love him to death, he's a strange kid. He wants to go pursue a career in craniosacral therapy.
Howard: Does he make that much money? Is he a millionaire?
Adam: He's made a bunch of money. He saves every penny.

Howard: And also, if you want, the old keyboard player, Jesse, you can hire him for massage. If you have a number you could give out...
Adam: It is pretty weird, isn't it?
Robin: Did he really go to massage school after he quit?
Adam: Do you know what the fucked up part is? I don't even think that he went.
James: He did.
Adam: He did go?
James: He has to log 500 hours.
Thank god James knows what's going on. Because Adam talked to him yesterday. They're super close.
