Saturday Evening at the Brownstone

"The house is ours tonight, boys!" Kiki grinned, sticking a bag of popcorn in the microwave. "We have a stack of movies, ranging from pure sugar to pure adrenaline, all guaranteed to rot our brains! Temporarily anyway. Hey, paws off, you two, this here is mine," she said, holding her hard cider away from the feline and the ferret. She settled ( Read more... )

Yazoo looked at his bottle and nodded his head. He took a sip to buy himself some time to respond. "I still have respect for Dr. Wilson." There was a pause while he thought the next part through and realized that regardless of what happened, he did still respect Aziraphale.

The trust would take time but Aziraphale seemed willing to be patient while he worked through it and Yazoo did miss being with him. He could say that he considered Aziraphale as a friend. Something that was quite rare in his life.

"And I respect Aziraphale. He has a difficult task to balance everything as only he can do."

She might not know Yazoo very well, but Kiki was beginning to get a sense of his depths. She took a piece of popcorn and chewed it thoughtfully for a moment.

"There's not," she answered slowly, "many people who could be that fair about it, I don't think. They'd be too hurt."

"I'm not sure I am," he said with a wry smile. "I probably wouldn't try if he hadn't written me a letter trying to explain."

"You're trying, though, which is important," Kiki answered quietly. "And I know that means a great deal to Aziraphale."

Shifting uncomfortable on the sofa, Yazoo shrugged and took another drink to hide his embarrassment. "At least it wasn't a permanent thing, for him. You know...being like that."

"Yeah," Kiki agreed quietly. "I'm not really sure what I would hvae done if I'd showed up in town and found him like that. Probably turn around and fly away again, I guess."

"It was hard to see Dr. Wilson in so much trouble and not be," trusted? "able to do anything. The people after him, well, they weren't really people, and they weren't anything to be fucked with. And when Aziraphale was no where to be seen," he sighed and let his head fall back against the sofa. "It was pretty fucked up."

"Demons," Kiki agreed quietly. "In every sense of the word. I can't imagine what it must have been like, for everyone involved."

"For us it wasn't that big a deal. We just did it and that was that." His head rolled to look over at Kiki. "The whole thing was just a bad scene. Tore up Dr. Wilson's car pretty bad, too."

"Cars, at least, are easily fixable. Probably the easiest thing to repair out of all of this, huh?" Kiki pulled her legs up on the couch and laced her fingers around her knees.

"Yeah," he grinned at her. Yazoo didn't know Kiki very well, either but she did seem to have the ability to cut right to the heart of a matter and shared an insight that wasn't presuming, insulting or inflammatory. "So will you be living with Dr. Wilson and Aziraphale?"

"I will," she smiled at him. "At least until they get tired of me underfoot all the time. I don't want to overstay my welcome!"

Yazoo laughed and sat up so he could finish his cider. "I don't think that will happen. Getting tired of you, I mean."

Blushing faintly at the compliment, Kiki laughed. "I could see it happening if, say, a spell of mine went awry and burned the house down. But as it stands, that's not terribly likely."

Draining the bottle, Yazoo stood up and placed the empty on the counter in the kitchen. He walked back to Kiki. "You have our number if you need anything, right?"

"I do," Kiki nodded. "Wilson gave it to me before they left."
