Question Meme

1. Comment with "I got drunk and bought a ton of flowers"
2. I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions. (If you want. Totally optional.)

My questions, from fray-adjacent12:

1. How did you get into vidding?
I started out as a viewer and then thought "hey, I could do that better" and taught myself how to vid. It's a complete rude and mean way to find a hobby. My early vids are shitty, but I had a lot of fun figuring things out, like how to write my own XMLs in Windows Movie Maker to create custom effects. Brad made an awesome vidder profile of me that I usually link people to when they ask about what got me into vidding because it explains how I wanted to vid before I actually knew there was something called vidding.

2. What vids of yours should I watch if I am squicky about gory and/or sexual violence?
There's not a lot because there's usually some level of gore, but here are some from 2009 to now. :)

3. You once mentioned that you "want to try vidding female characters that do more than beat people up and make things explode while being pretty." How is that going?
For last year I wanted to be more subdued, which I think I did. This year I wanted to change the way I decide what to vid, which is different than changing how I vid. Looking at my current timelines I've widened my window of vid ideas, but my current vid timeline (for WisCon) is my typical sort of vid for a female character. It has a different angle than usual, but it is mainly a female asskicker (Samantha Shaw on Person of Interest).

4. What are your favorite and least favorite aspects of your job?
Teaching preschool isn't easy, but I love it. And being an Intervention Specialist isn't easy, but I love it. My least favorite aspect is probably the paperwork. I'm not very organized and I'd rather be teaching than calculating percentages on IEP goals. My favorite part is everything else. When a child with autism started talking again, when a child with cerebral palsy stopped needing to use their walker, and basically when a child does anything that they couldn't before. I don't even mind when they headbutt me in the jaw or scratch my face. It sounds strange, but it doesn't faze me at all and I love it.

5. Is there a story behind your default icon, and if so, what?
I saw the photo, which is an ad for Kate Spade and it instantly felt like it captured something of myself. It's hard to explain without showing you the inside of my brain.
