I like handwritting most things.

When I used to do clip notes, they looked a lot like these -- though more scattershot and less paragraphy.

Sadly, at the time I was only just learning to think visually, so a lot of time I wrote down only the most general "this is what happens in the shot", often with bits of dialogue to remind me. Didn't work so well. (:

Hmm, I barely recall any dialogue when making notes. I sometimes put it on mute and fastforward while listening to something else.

Interesting.

Yes, that's the smart way to do it! But at the time I would do a full rewatch every time I was going to make a vid.

Lately I've been doing full rewatches. I like it more than watching on fastforward, especially for a series like Buffy or Farscape. Those are older and it's nice to watch them again.

Wow. You are just so unique-brained! I don't really storyboard as much as lay it all out in my head. So I guess that's mental storyboarding. It's way less impressive than what you do tho!

I have nearly a whole journal full of that stuff. I have dreadful handwriting, but if I didn't write it down I have a fear that I'll forget what I was going to do.

Can't. The school where I teach is back in session when VVC is going. That and I'd look like a crazy bag lady in the making. :)

Wow, impressive. This is way too involved for my lazy brain. I just do a mental storyboard of the big moments (the moneyshots you see in your head that convince you to make the vid in the first place) and then tool around while the rest falls into place.

I'll probably have to develop a storyboard method if I ever want to make anything srs bsns.

I wish I could vid like that. I have a shit memory and I might forget even those moments. I have too many vid ideas in my head. My list of vid ideas is in the hundreds now.

There are tons of ways to storyboard, a few are in the other post for when you get srs bsns. :)

My memory is terrible too. Even with my most ambitious project I was able to limit myself to only two seasons of a show. I'd stick to movies from here on out if I didn't have such a yen for making Supernatural vids.

I thought my vid ideas were getting out of hand at like...a dozen.

I love making vids for tv shows because there's so much to work with, but it can be tiresome. I want to go back to making vids for movies. Much less source to go through. :)

Supernatural is a frakking fountain of vid ideas. I have 7 or 8 that I want to do for it.

Don't feel lazy. I didn't always storyboard. I used to vid differently and storyboard wasn't a part that I needed to do.

...I get impatient to see what certain things will look like. Also I can't really plan a vid until I can see the whole thing. But I can't see the whole thing until I have a draft!
Do you think it's because of how differently we see things. Am I more visual than you are? I can see an entire vid in my head before I make it. Do you do that or is it different? I usually don't swap and mix things around. I'm generally pulling in things I haven't used yet. I clip like a crazy person too, pulling way more than I need and finding more along the way.
