My biggest fear (almost) occured!!!!

I went to Philly this weekend.  I got to see my Marizzle.  It was so wonderful to see her and Rog and baby Hannah!  I couldn't believe how much just 4 months can change a little person!  She's standing, starting to talk gibberish, waving, and - let me tell you -  that little girl knows how to play hard to get!  LoL Super entertaining.  Unfortunately Marie ended up pretty sick this weekend so when she wasn't hugging the porclein gods we just hung out at her place.  I really love just sitting and talking with her.  Roger and I banter more and more each time I'm there which is good.  It shows that he likes me - which is important for a best friend's husband to do!  LoL

My biggest fear is to be stranded on the side of the road with a broken down car.  I've been like that since I was a kid and even now freak when my gas gauge gets close to the "E" (and by close I mean a quarter of a tank).  My biggest fear almost happened this weekend:

Sunday we went to church and then Marie's parents asked us over for Sunday dinner.  We decided to take 2 cars since her parents live right off the interstate that I need to hop onto.  On my way to their place (about 3-4 mi away) I start noticing that there is a car on the street that has a very funny, very distinct odor.  I don't think much of it because when we take off I don't smell it much after that.... that is until less than a mile away from her folks house I start to notice that my car is smoking... and it's getting worse.  By the time I'm a few hundred yards from my final destination I can't barely see the car behind me.  Pull into the driveway and marie hops out and runs to get her dad (who's pretty handy with cars).  As I lift my hood I notice a fan is still running... which is really odd... and start to search for God knows what since I'm pretty useless with cars.  Her dad rushes out takes a look under the hood "here's your problem" pops a hose back to where it's supposed to be.  The smoke and smell was antifreeze that had exploded all over my engine.  He worked on it a bite, ran the car to help with the burn off of any extra anti freeze, and told me I was good to go!  After dinner I leave.  I'm going good making good time until I hit the delaware toll.  Dead Stop. Same Smell.  CRAP.  I scour my car in search of smoke.  YUP there it is.  Quite faint this time but there none the less.  Breaking out into a cold sweat I call Marie who is still at her parents house.  After consulting I was assured that the hose should have stayed put, but if it gets worse and the temp of my car goes up then I need to stop and check.  After 30 min of sitting in toll traffic I'm free with no smoke and no smell, I later stop for gas and check the hose which is still in place and continued home.

All I can say is 1) Someone was definitely looking out for me.  Had I just left from Marie's to the interstate I prob. Never would have noticed the smell until it was too late. 2) Thank God for my new hero Mr. Broderick who knows what he's doing when under a car hood.
