Summary: Cas gets a song stuck in his head, and it drives Dean slightly crazy.

Cas was humming again and Dean was going to kill him.

Okay, maybe not kill, because he'd miss the guy and he was pretty sure Cas was still pretty unkillable by mere humans. But Dean was not going to be responsible for any acts of violence he committed if Cas kept humming and singing that song. He was being to understand why Castiel's brother - the asshole - had duct taped his mouth shut and wondered if Cas had gone around heaven annoying the shit out of the other angels by humming under his angelic breath all the time.

Maybe that was why they'd sent Cas into hell after Dean, figuring that hey if he rescued Dean then good but if not they shouldn't have to hear that incessant humming all the time.

"Will you cut it out?" Dean demanded. "Seriously, Cas, you're driving me crazy."

Cas blinked, and thankfully stopped humming, as he titled his head to the side. "Cut what out Dean?"

"The humming. I know getting a song stuck in your head is annoying but you don't have to annoy me in the process," Dean grumbled.

"That was never my intention, Dean," Castiel assured him. "You are saying that this -- "

He started humming again, so Dean the only thing outside of violence he could think of - he kissed his angel.

Cas stopped humming.

Summary: "If angels listen hard enough they can hear eternity singing."

He stands with his eyes half open and his head tipped back, straining.

It's no place special. A run down motel on the side of a almost deserted stretch of highway. The parking lot is more dirt, gravel, and broken glass then cement.

But the place itself doesn't matter. It could be anywhere.

What matters is that with the Winchesters only a few feet away he can let his guard down long enough to do this. To stretch his senses beyond the confines of his vessel, and truly listen.

It is not as easy as when he was newly made, or when he stood in Heaven surrounded by his brothers and sisters. But if he listens sees feels tastes hard enough, if he strains just a little more - he can hear see feel taste it.

He can hear eternity singing.

And he almost weeps.

When he falls withdraws back into his vessel, he is not alone in the parking lot.

"I cannot hear it," Castiel says softly, sorrowfully. His eyes are focused on the ground - the dirt, gravel, and bits of colored glass. "It has been lost to me since I chose Dean."

There are a million sharp words that could spill from his tongue, but this is his brother and maybe this is his fault. Maybe he could have saved Castiel from this.

Gabriel rests a hand on the right side of Castiel's face and Castiel's eyes rise to meet his. "Try again."
