UW Huskies' new mascot... That's a FURSUIT!
Well, after a week I'm still battling this nasty lung infection... I was diagnosed with early stage pneumonia and I'm starting to think it's bronchitis since the antibiotics I've been on haven't done much of anything... but I'll survive.
ANYWAY...
I, along with the rest of the state of Washington, tuned in to the University of Washington Huskies' first-round NCAA game against Georgia last week. I love seeing the mascots go crazy at these games and I heard that UW got a new husky costume earlier this year that I haven't seen yet... when I finally saw the new "Harry Husky" prior to one of the commercial breaks my jaw almost hit the floor.
That wasn't a "mascot" costume, that was a FURSUIT!
The old Harry was your typical mascot, HUGE head, vision through the mouth, really cartoony, like 95% of mascots out there (and he honestly didn't look too much like a husky).

Here's the new Harry, with vision through the eyes, and a much more form fit that looks like it came straight out of Arend Studios or Fursuiting.com or one of the other high-end fandom builders:

The new Harry has drawn lots of ire unfortunately from the public who are so used to the traditional super-toony disporportionate mascots that they are slow to embrace the wonderful anthropomorphism in the new character... from what I heard the UW athletic department is trying to replicate "Dubs" the UW's actual HUSKY mascot, in human form and from what I see they did well... though some are calling it a "raccoon" lol.
And from what I've seen whoever is piloting the new Harry is one hell of a performer!
It's official... UW may just be the most "furry" school in the country :-D
