Fursuiting at Bothell RiverFest - best venue ever!

Sep 02, 2009 00:36

Heard about a great suiting opportunity last week that was actually right down the road, just a couple of blocks from our new place - Bothell RiverFest, an annual community street fair. This one was more special because Bothell is celebrating its centennial (1909-2009), there were vendors, a car show, live music, big inflatable bouncy things for kids, the works!

And there were LOTS of kids! Ithabise wasn't feeling up to suiting that day so he reluctantly took the video camera (though he did a great job) so it was just RedClaw and I in suit with Chaos taking still pictures of our outing.

This was probably the most fun I've had suiting at a public event before, we've always gotten an amazing reception when suiting in Bothell and today was no exception, the weather was great (though a bit hotter than I expected), the turnout was HUGE and we put so so many smiles on kids' faces that day and spread some furry cheer in a city that loves us back.

I've come to the realization that fursuiting (in public settings like this, anyway) is a gift that brings others, particularly children, joy and happiness, and this is seriously why you fursuit, for days like this!

Here's just a small sampling of the crazy stuff in the video:

A lion and an otter being pulled into a square-dancing lesson
Epically bad yet HILARIOUS fursuit dancing in front of at least 100 concertgoers
Freaking out at least two REAL animals
Getting assaulted by a martial-arts kid student
Hanging out with Bert the Salmon, environmental mascot for King County (and one cool fish - he let us use his break room as a headless lounge!)
Invading Bothell Safeway in suit while somehow eluding security

and much more!
