Exaltation of the Life-giving Cross (NS)

On my way to bed - I promise!

Not much happening here. It's hard to believe that a year ago I was in St. Petersburg. What a lovely city. Weird and sort of dingy, but lovely too. I just watched part of a video set in the Winter Palace and I could scarcely contain myself - I'd been in those rooms! I'd seen those works of art in real life! I communed in the cathedral down the Prospect and venerated its copy of the Kazan Icon! Unbelievable. And unbelievable that I'm not going back. Why? Life is so weird.

On the job front, the Cross Cultural Studies Office at SAU needs a new secretary (30 hours a week with benefits), but Diane (the director) knows me pretty much exclusively from my interaction with the office as a busy yet lazy student preparing for a semester in Russia and if she even interviewed me she'd be a fool. I could offer my time at Meijer as an example of how I've changed, but that's not much compared with completing my application the month I was to leave :-/.

Anyways. It's the Exaltation of the Cross today on the Gregorian calendar and I'm off to the Monastery in the morning, so I'd best get me some sleep before then. No Meijer Thursday or Friday, thank God. I am house-sitting for the Braley, however. I'd rather sleep here (the Keasters are gone for the weekend), but someone has to take care of the Mignon...

Your prayers! They're needed...
