I'm on my way to bed (I promise!), but in checking my e-mail and friends' posts I ran into a website about the recent kafuffle at SAU and have found myself still unable to understand the reasons behind it. (My apologies to any readers not from SAU - this'll probably be a confusing post to you.)
Gender identity issues are an interesting thing, but I guess I thought that male and female identities and roles were not so set and separate. I mean, yes in some very fundamental and basic ways, but does my liking to clean (I do sometimes) or cook (I don't) or go shopping (yes, but depends on where :-) ) alienate me from my gender? I'd never thought so. So I don't like video games! Big deal - Jesus never played them either. (Or baseball for that matter - thank God too, 'cause I suck at it :-/.) Some guys are really "macho" in that very old American sense, and some aren't. Just 'cause I'm not doesn't make me any less male and a guy than my friends who do play video games, go hunting, and refuse to wash their hands with scented soaps.
I'm not trying to be gossipy about what's been going on here. I'm just honestly not able to understand most of it. May God be with us all! So many people are throwing around Bible verses like they're frisbees. I don't know if the ones doing all that searching of the Scriptures realise that the Bible is a canon for what is true, not the fullness of the truth we have been given by God. Heaven help us if it were! The Montanists, Arians, and Eunomians would be just as right as the Christians in their beliefs and practices...
I will now get off my little soapbox and go to bed. I'm still kind of sick, and I want it to go away. Oh, and my cousin Aimee was here tonight!!! She, my sister, and I had an absolutely amazing time together at the LaShish in Ypsilanti, and I can't believe a year and a half has passed since I saw her at her wedding. Glory to God for all things! (If only I'd said that when I was trying to get to the Ypsilanti exit earlier :-/.) LaShish is definitely Muslim-owned (all the food is halal), but they definitely major in excellence for a chain of restaurants.
And Father was able to come by and bless my room after all, which was great. May God save and protect me and Joe and all who live here.
Okay, THE END. Sleep time...
