It's the end of the week as we know it...

Hey ya'all! Just a quick update from Nizhniy Novgorod. I just came in from Bolshaya Pokrovskaya, the pedestrian street connecting Minin & Pozharskiy Square with Gorkiy Square. It is, as its name suggests, a street for pedestrians, so you must of course watch out for cars :-). There aren't as many as on most streets, though, so it's not so bad.

Today's been a slow one, thank God. This morning I helped out in a journalism English language class (with Elizabeth, which was refreshing since I was in need of hearing English spoken by someone who's always spoken it) and this afternoon I spent in part with my host mom (having lunch and seeing where she works), in part reading in the apartment, and in part walking on Pokrovka, where I withdrew some money for this weekend's trip to Kazan.

Life's going okay overall. Things are well with the host family, but I hate the feeling that they're over-adjusting their schedules to mine. I got that feeling especially strongly this morning, which was really frustrating since (a) I wanted to eat alone for once (I've hardly gotten the opportunity since coming to Russia), (b) I didn't want to inconvenience my host mom (who I think came home from work an hour earlier than she normally would've to make me lunch (which was amazing, btw), and (c) it obligated me to come home as soon as class ended, which left me unable to hang out on Pokrovka after class :-/.

So, that's my sob story for today :-). Life is okay, Russia's great, Kazan will be fascinating (we leave tonight and won't get back till early Monday morning), and not having classes Monday will be "vachement chouette" as Madame Brobst would've said :-).

Poka for now! I hope you're all well.
