Houston, we have a host family.

Hello everyone!

As you can probably tell already, I have a host family! They live in the lower city unfortunately, but they're not too far from the cathedrals and the bridges over to the upper city and apparently there's a good church 'right next door' (I'm not sure if that means a 2 minute walk or a 30 minute walk here - we'll see :-) ). The family consists of the husband and wife, who's an accountant, and their post-grad son, who's studying at a university here in the city (perhaps the State University?). I'm told they're unbelievers, but I'm much more concerned by reports that they like to watch sports :-). (If they watch [European] football that'll be sweet, but if not :-/...)

Classes here are picking up. Our Russian language teachers are starting to crackdown a little bit and that's very good - we've been much too lazy with figuring out what we've been hearing and studying in class. Our other class has good lectures, but I've lost track of the homework assignments and we have a paper due this Monday (the Monday following our jam-packed weekend, which includes packing, a visit to a museum about the life of Aleksey Peshkov [Maksim Gorkiy], moving in with our host families and beginning to get to know them, church (hopefully confession too), and our normative Sunday night gathering at Harley's.

So, good times. Your prayers as always - for me, for my host family, for the other students and their host families, and for the people we know and spend time with here.
