Joyous feast! Beginning with this evening we commemorate the martyrdom of St. Nicholas, the last Tsar of Rus', together with his wife and children and their attendants in the city of Ekaterinburg. Tomorrow, on Friday, we'll remember St. Elizabeth, another Royal Martyr who was martyred during the Bolshevik Revolution in 1918.
I tried to maintain a positive outlook at work today and did well overall. After 5 or 6pm things started going down the drain, but I escaped without completely losing it on anyone. The thought of going back tomorrow morning depresses me, but I'm going to bed early so I can go to the Monastery in the morning before I'm due in at the Call Center, so hopefully that'll help anchor my perspective tomorrow (at both jobs :-)!).
I'm going to try to live a more Christian life - I started praying again last night at the Commune, and I'm hoping to keep to a minimal prayer rule and prepare more regularly to commune. I don't know how this will all work out - I'm a different person in my different worlds, and this can't continue. I want to continue enjoying life while also growing in love for God and others. I pray I can integrate my worlds into one without offending or losing any friends - I hope my outlook and approach to life in Christ is less rigid than it has been, but still faithful to what Christ taught and established in the Church.
"Do not rely on the evil one, who instills in you deceptive ideas, saying, “You are still young, and will still live a long time. Therefore enjoy yourself now, and do not worry about your soul; you will repent when you are old.” If you do not repent when you are young, at an age when you are in full of strength, able to bear any burden and endure your struggle, then will you not, in old age, use your weakness as your justification?"
