So mom, sis & I met with 2 radiation oncs this morning to discuss if there were any other options for improving my eyesite, and how Kaiser's options compared to other local state-of-the-art facilities like UCLA, City of Hope & Cedars-Sinai.
They're all using the same equipment in terms of the pin-point radiation "gamma knife" and the radiation oncs at Kaiser were actually trained by UCLA staff before Kaiser got their equipment. (We may still look at UCLA for a second opinion for the "below the neck" treatment options, but I'd like another CT scan in a couple of months first to see how the diet & the Faslomax shot are working 'cuz why pay UCLA for their opinion if treatment is working? But sis may think sooner rather than later is better, so we'll see).
At this point the radiation oncologist said that using the gamma knife on the largest tumor in my brain could result in "brain necrosis" (killing HEALTHY brain tissue, uhm, think "brain rotting away"), that they would only maybe recommend it if I got a new tumor in my brain that seriously ruined my quality of life. Mom, sis, and I pretty much agreed that my quality of life is excellent at the moment (pain-free, good mobility, able to think & take care of personal grooming *grin*), and we don't want to risk changing my brain into applesauce...
There is a possibility that once my immune system is back up to full strength, it will treat the current dead tumors as a waste product, and start dissolving them (flush 'em down & out), and the macrobiotic diet may be able to do the same thing. BUT it can take years.
Argh, Time Warner Cable is the devil; it's been down most of the afternoon & they're our internet provider. So it's off to see HP again :-)
