This is my little experiment Lumière Noire, and I hope with your help, this story will grow into something lovely.
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. That is the sole property of Masashi Kishimoto.

Land of Fire: The border of the land of fire and Amegakure
The night was warm as a red headed woman moved quickly through the forest on her way to flee the place she had once called home Konohagakure. She smiled as the bundle in her hands whined and shifted into a better position, before quieting down again. She needed to get to Sunagkure and fast. By now they would know that she was missing, and would definitely know who she had taken with her. She thought of those she left behind and hoped that they would forgive her for leaving so suddenly, but she just couldn't stay any longer. She would stay with a friend of hers for a day or two in Amegakure, the rain village, for a day or two, before continuing on. She hoped for something to slow Konoha down, but she knew of the formidable people that lived there, and knew that nothing could stop them.
But she was from there too, and more determined.
The bundle gurgled and she looked into the beautiful blue eyes barely hidden by half-lidded eye lids. "Don't worry Naruto; I would let them get to you. Hopefully you can also forgive me one day, for you may never meet your father. You would have loved your brother too, but alas, they couldn't come with us." The baby blinked slowly as she ran her fingers down his cheeks and latched his mouth onto her fingers. She pulled them away and he started to whine. "None of that. We must be quiet so mommy can concentrate." She picked up speed and almost cried in relief as she saw the border coming up. She pulled the blanket tighter around him as it started to drizzle. She was definitely almost there. She cried out in anguish as a flash of yellow streaked past her and took Naruto from her arms. She fell to the ground and looked up at the figure standing above her. The only person who could ever catch up to her that fast. "Minato." His name came out as a whisper but she knew he heard.
"Kushina." She almost winced at the pain she heard laced in his voice. She felt the tears coming to her eyes, and let them fall as she held out her arms.
"Give him to me." He said nothing and held Naruto closer to his chest. "Give me my baby!" At that moment, she hated him. She hated the man she loved so much for taking her last happiness from her. "They'll kill him. Damn you Minato they'll kill him!" She scowled as he didn't even bat a lash.
"You're mistaken. They wouldn't." She smiled bitterly at him.
"You always did have to much faith in that village." She stood and walked towards him. "Now give me Naruto. I have to keep him safe." The look in her eyes told her that he didn't believe her and she could feel her heart breaking. "Please. Naruto is different, they will not trust him, or treat him the way he should be. The elders want him gone anyway. This way he can still be alive. Believe in me just this once please." She didn't think she would win until Naruto began to cry and she saw Minato's hesitance. He slowly gave Naruto to her and she immediately soothed him. He whined softly before returning to sleep. "Thank you." She went to move past him but he cut her off. "Mina-"
"Be safe." He pulled the both of them into hug. "Please, keep the both of you safe." She nodded into his embrace and pulled away for the last time.
"We will be fine. Take care of Kyuubi, and don't let him hate us for leaving." She smiled tightly before turning and fleeing to the Rain village.
Present
Rain village: outskirts
Naruto's mind moved furiously as he ran away from his village. The whole place was up in flames, and no matter what he couldn't stop them. He had to find somebody that could help him; someone that could save the lives of everyone in his village, even though they wouldn't have spared him a second thought. No one wanted his help. No one would take his hand. He sagged to the ground crying as he came to a clearing in the woods. The full moon reflected, unmoving, on the lake that was in front of him. As he gasped for breath, he could still hear the screams that were coming from the village.
There was nothing he could do.
He pulled himself over to the lakes edge and dipped his face into the water, drinking it greedily. His heart was pounding and his breaths were coming out in gasps. The silence finally caught up with him as his heart beat went back to normal. The silence was almost painful, and left him confused, as there was always something making noise. Everything was silent. Not even the crickets were gracing the night with their song. He wiped the tears from his face and looked from the direction he had come. He could vaguely see smoke over the tops of the trees. He debated going back to his village and dying with it, but he knew even then, he wouldn't be welcome. He chuckled at the patheticness of it all. He went to take another drink from the lake when a low growl had him pausing in his ministrations.
He turned slowly and saw the shape of a beast making its way towards him. He mentally cursed, as the thing was blocking his escape. His earlier thoughts of death once again made themselves present, and he found himself not caring anymore. His shoulders sagged as he tried to wipe away the rest of his tears, but they wouldn't stop falling. The beast turned out to be a wolf, and Naruto mentally laughed. He was glad it was a wolf and not some large bear or something. He closed his eyes, and waited for the wolf to come and take his life. It was quite bigger than the ones he had seen before, but it was probably just his luck.
After moments of waiting, he opened his eyes to see what was taking the thing so long. He jumped in surprise as the thing was just inches from his face. It growled lowly at his movement and he froze; his eyes seeking the inky black that was the wolfs. He felt himself becoming nervous the longer the wolf stared at him and soon couldn't stop himself from shaking. He could tell it was becoming agitated as the growls increased in volume. His mind could have been playing tricks on him, but it looked like the wolfs irises just turned red and three black tomoes appeared in each eye and started to swirl. He gulped as he found himself watching them swirl and felt his eyes getting heavy. He no longer had any control and his mind screamed at him, telling him to back away from the creature and to not lean in closer.
This was it.
He was about to die.
There was a slight rustle in the trees behind it and the wolf gave him one last growl before dashing away. He looked towards where the sound came from and saw a figure slowly walking towards him. He momentarily thought it was someone from his village, but they would have rather let the thing eat him. He felt the night catch up with him and slowly began to fade in and out.
"It would look as if we were almost too late." He blinked at the blurry figure of a brown haired male. The voice was rather nice, calming and what not.
"Well at least he wasn't still in the village." He could feel himself drifting further as another male stood over him. This one with white or grey hair, he couldn't really tell in his current state.
"Who was that with him just now?" Who? A wolf that's what. He was about to be its dinner.
"I may have a vague idea." He couldn't hold on any longer. Everything went black.
"Kakashi! He fainted."
"It was to be suspected Iruka. I'm surprised he hung on that long."
Land of Fire: Konoha; Uchiha Compound
All was silent at the Uchiha compound as Itachi slid the door open and sat down beside his father on the porch. "Sasuke is gone again." Fugaku scowled as the smoke from Itachi's pipe wafted in front of his sensitive nose. "He's been gone a while this time, yes?"
"Hn." Itachi smirked at the strictly Uchiha response. "And your mother?" Itachi's smirk widened.
"Besides herself as usual. She doesn't think he'll come back on his own this time, and I'll have to go retrieve him as usual." Itachi watched his father's face for what only he knew would be a smile, and there it was. The left corner of his lip moved upwards just a fraction.
"But you seem to think different." Itachi tilted his head to the side and looked over at the full moon that shone tauntingly on them.
"I know, he'll come back on his own." Fugaku stared at him from the corner of his eye and sighed.
"Were you not called to join in the hunt for that missing child.?" Itachi's smirk dropped a fraction and his eyes became wistful. Red slowly bled into his pupils and the three tomoe started to sp
"Hm. Why? Everything is as it should be." He stood and left his father to his own devices. He moved down the hallway and steeped into the bathroom. He filled a basin with some cool water, grabbed a rag, and moved towards Sasuke's room. He sat the basin on the floor and slid open the door that led from Sasuke's room to the backyard that looked over the forest. A few moments later a wolf slowly left the forest and moved into the room with slug like motions. It panted and slunk to the floor beside the basin. Ever so slowly, the limbs started to stretch and the fur disappeared into skin. Itachi dipped the cloth into water and placed it onto his brother's forehead. "So little brother. You finally got your Sharingan to work. It only took you 16 years, but whose counting." Sasuke attempted to swat him, but was too tired to do lazily.
There you have it. My first chapter.
Please note that in the series, the Uchiha clan has the Sharingan at birth, but first activates during a stressful situation during a battle. In this story it activates when they meet someone who is essentially important to their future and is unrelated to them, like the person who will be their mate or best friend.
Also note that the Mangekyo Sharingan will not be activated after the death of a close one (outside of the family). I will reveal that later on.
Please review. I would love to hear your thoughts!
