Fairly quiet week at work. I got data for a study report on Tuesday, so I've been getting started on it. I did find out that a report for another sponsor is finallly final! Yay! It's the first report in a series of 6, so it's nice to get it final before the next one comes along next month.
I went to the Great Beadfreak Charm Exchange last night. I made 10 charms using the 1.5" frames and glass - I picked out 10 pictures that I have taken (well, my brother took 2 of them and my niece took 1), cropped and sized them to fit the frames, and came up with little inspirational sayings (like "Let your creativity bloom" and "Dare to be different" - a little trite, but they went well with the pictures). I think they went over pretty well. I got 10 pretty nice charms in exchange. A couple of them are really nice - like a woven wire basket. We did 3 "mini-classes" - using metal stamps on small round charms, "Shrinky-Dinks," and "Plique a jour." Plique a jour (French for "light of day") is an enameling technique, but we used open bezels, ICE resin, and pigments. You fill the bezel with the resin + pigment, let it harden, and then peel the bezels off the backing. Then you have the translucent resin in the middle of the bezel and the light comes through like stained glass. I'll try to post some pictures soon. Much fun was had!
