so, i realize that i haven't updated about graduation like i promised i would. and i realize i haven't updated about my life in general. and i keep telling myself i'll update soon, but... i forget, a lot. :X
anyway! it's been a week since all my end-of-semester stuff has been done, and i've been lazing around for the past week. summer class started this week - today was the first day, actually - and i'm taking rhet 103a with melia. and, well, since i've only had 2.5 hours of class, i should really reserve judgment for now. BUT I MUST RANT ABOUT THE SHEER AMOUNT OF WORK EXPECTED OF US.
6 week course. 5 quizzes, one every tuesday. classes are from tues-thurs. quizzes are on the coming week's readings. oh yes, i'm not kidding - THE COMING WEEK'S READINGS! BEFORE HE DISCUSSES THEM! this means i'll have to read 200-300 pages every week. (actually, i don't know the length of the readings b/c i've been too depressed to look. why, you might ask? because i have to read plato's gorgias in its entirety tonight for tomorrow's class.. let's ignore the fact that i've read less than half of the 140 pages thus far and that i probably won't finish it tonight.)
oh, and also - we're expected to TALK in class. he said he'll call on us if we don't! #)Q)FIGA. i abhor talking in class! why can't i just listen while others talk? listening is a form of participation too, right???
okay, enough ranting. on to happier news! i got all my grades back - i pulled off a semester with straight As! this is unexpected. this has not happened since i began my college career. this makes me feel SMART for once! so come, dance with me and be happy!
as for the rest of the summer.... aside from this rhetoric course, i'll also be doing some work on my research with prof johnson, and also! he hired me to help him with his research! i get to do video-editing :DDDD anddd in july, i'll be at ssssstanford for the lsa institute! and~ in about three weeks, i get to visit tin and see him again! i'm SO excited about everything this summer (except, of course, the dreaded class). it's gonna be great! i'll get lots of linguistics time!
i'll talk about graduation sometime, i promise. but i gotta get back to plato! bleh.
